Down We Went... Twice!!!!

Yep.. I dropped Buzz.

Long story short.. Leaving home last Monday night, jump on the bike and theres about 10 people and some kids kicking a soccer ball in the carpark. Stupid kids, yes, but away from me, so no problemo.. Do a U-turn, all is going well until i straighten up and slowly squeez the front brake on. TIMBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Over to the Right we went and "Crunch". It happened in slow-motion and as we went down, in my mind, my L's instructor and his little beard shook his head furiously along with *tsk tsk* "what did i teach you?"
After having everyone stop and look, but not help, I get her back up on two wheels (which, for me is a feat in itself) and inspect the damage.
Not as bad as i thought, but still

The indicators didnt even get scratched!! They just hit the ground and the pressure transferred and busted in the faring. Just my newest excuse to get slimline LED's, crash Knobs and my custom stickers made up

Thinking to myself "Dammit, okay i can deal with this" I Jump on, head out to the Bf's trying not to get upset. I didnt swear (wtf? believe it or not!) but I did say sorry over and over and over to her and promised her I'd get her fixed before summer, so she'd be looking hot again! Show the Bf, he's a little unimpressed, but as we've all said "it was bound to happen". I didnt swear (wtf? believe it or not!) but I did say sorry over and over and over to her and promised her I'd get her fixed before summer, so she'd be looking hot again!
A bit of a restless night of sleep followed. Go out into the Garage in the morning to ride to work, Helmet on, Bag On, Gloves on, Ignition On, go to start her up and a big gust of wind came from my right hand side and over we went again. My left ankle got trapped under the bike as we went down and is a lovely shade of Purple and Blue, but am more concerned about the damage casued to Buzz.
I had a bit of a cry when I got to work (I'm a girl after all) But stealing a cagers parking spot made me feel a little better. I know I'm not the first one to drop their bike, and certainly not the last, but It was MY first drop on MY Bike. But I guess you could say I've broken the Learners Curse. She still rides fine, indicators (as horrifically ugly as they are) still work, and if you're close enough in traffic to notice the damage, then I've just run you over and get out from under my bike!!!

Geez a bit of bad luck there, that's why it is suggested you have an old dunger whilst learning to ride so the suffering is not so bad should a mishap occur
Hope your ankle isnt too bad

Bummer

I know how you feel. But apart from a bruise, you seem ok, and that's the most important bit. The rest is fixable!
Sorry you scuffed up your gorgeous Buzz though

my first offing day I went off 3 times. fortunately not on my bike. was learning to ride a dual sport on gravel tracks. went down once in the mud, another time when a rock flipped under the front wheel and the last I seem to have just sailed off for the sheer joy of it.(maybe brainfade). 5 weeks ago and I still have bruises and wear a shoulder brace. (but can still ride

)
get your leg X rayed and get to a physio, otherwise your muscles can waste away

Or thumb-nail.

Sorry to hear about your little mischief. I overbalanced my track-bike putting it on the stand the other day and laid it down due to my weak knee and did the same to a ZX9 I owned a few years ago (when I was fit) wheeling it out of the garage

so it really does happen to everyone at some point.

Sorry to hear that and bad luck.......but we have all done it, and still do it. Just read the forum......
It will just remind you early that no-one is invinceable, just get back on and be more careful next time.
Ride safely and you will enjoy it longer.
Good luck

Oh sweets, sorry to hear that, but like all have said, it is a very common thing and not just for newbs, it can happen to anyone and it isn't always the fault of the person as happened to you with the wind and man was that wind scary over the weekend, I swear I thought I was going to be blown over a few times riding. Thank goodness your ok and make sure you keep that ankle iced.

My thoughts exactly - as long as you're ok anything else can be fixed. It is pretty disappointing to damage your bike but that will pass once it's all fixed.

Thanks for your support guys and gals! She's been off the road the past week due to....wait for it................................ BUSTING MY RIGHT ANKLE playing Basketball!!! (and yes its uber fuxored) And I've had a poke around behind the fairings and good news is its all cosmetic. No further damage except the cracked Fairings

so Yippeee! Plastex fix-up here we come!
pics of said stupid right ankle thats keeping me from riding

The stupid thing is, its less painful to ride than drive, but getting my boots on is agony!!

Looks to me like you could've done some fairly big ligament damage there. Have you had it seen to yet?
If not - go.
The bike injuries are fixable and soon forgotten. Body injuries, if not fixed, are never forgotten.

Now before you do it again ( God forbid

)
Remove the big Nasty shiny metal washer from the back of the indicators - it isn't really needed and is the culprit that caused the damage........ then the indicator will just "pop" out if it happens again (usually without damage to the fairings) and are just as easy to "pop" back in to place
Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing ??

Ahhhh the old indicator through the fairing, remember it well

Like everyone has said it happens to everyone at some time. Do as Rossi said and grab yourself some Og** knobs.
That fairing should fix up ok and you will mend soon, enjoy your break.
I'm no doctor but get yourself Xrayd, Hoff made that mistake after the Putty BBQ and found out a few weeks later he had broken bones
Have a few scotches it helps with the pain and the pain of damaging your bike
