Tricky RBT

There's a RBT station that gets set up on my way home, on a divided 2-lane-each-way road with median strip.
Once you can see the RBT up ahead there's only one exit, and it's a pitch black 20m long dead end street with just a closed gate at the end you can enter to do a u-turn.
Without fail someone's always sitting at the lights waiting to turn into the side street to do avoid the RBT, and little do they know that another police car sits in the dark waiting to breath test everyone who enters the street to avoid the RBT. Once they sit there they probably see the police in there waiting for them, but to do a u-turn at the lights there would be illegal.
There's usually a few cars sitting in there with offenders milling around waiting for their friends to come and pick them up.
Found themselves a nice little spot they have
I Got breath tested this week. Sat there in the line with my helmet and gloves off and licence out so I couldn't pull up to him like everyone else so I'm glad he walked down to test me - checked my licence, p plate and lams approved bike..... not sure it he knew if mine was approved but said
"GS500" hey............"
"yep".................."
"have a good night"

yeah funny you say that, whenever i pull up at a RBT, and the cop makes me take my helmet off, i make the effort to be EXTRA slow, so i take off my helmet really slowly and carefully, then gloves.
Thats pretty tricky dicky setup they have though, i am sure the cop that sits on the side street is certainly less tolerant the ones up on the main street!!!

There use to be 2 cops that would get punters in the T2 AM lane on Lane Cove road city bound just before Sydney City MC.
One would be visible & one would be down the last street on the left before the Lane cove road cop, needless to say as soon as the main cop was spotted a left turn would would follow ending in a booking, it was a no through road so I can imagine the punters trying to explain why they were there

Stupid thing was it happened every week & there were so many getting caught out

This was in the late 80's before the tunnel.

The last couple of times I got breathe tested I just had to pull the chin of the helmet down a bit to talk into the device. Didn't have to take anything off.
Good on the cops covering all the bases there I say.

Yea ive seen a few RBT's that either cover side streets like that or place it somewhere that there are no turnoff's once you see it!
I got RBT's at one of those the other day i pull up go to take my helmet off and the copper is like don't bother mate just pull the chin down and talk into the breath tester i know what a hassle it is to take all the gear off. I was like thanks mate was off like 30 seconds later

Our local RBT is at Holland Park on a one way street that runs from the bottom of the motorway offramp, around a dogleg, and after where they set up, into minor intersection. There is no way you can see them from the offramp. They generally have quite a few people caught out. When we have been through there on the bikes, we have been waved through a couple of times without being tested, and the other times they are happy to let us just pull the helmet down.

when they pull me over, I de-robe, breath test, then robe up, then perform 20 point safety check as I do whenever I ride, warm the bike back up then resumes on my normal way !!
unless my rear tyre is shagged at which point I get outta there quick to avoid a defect

got pulled into an elaborate RBT on Pac Hwy, Artarmon last night.... it was manned by 5 x cars and 6 x #$@&!
I was upon a Zeno bike and my mate was riding one of mine (just to add to their confusion)
Fat
Obnoxious
Cop fronts up and displays his orthoritee in presence of rookie cop.
Rookie Cop takes my licence and has me count to ten...
hands me back my licence after looking at it for 2mins (alls good right?)
'FOC' then
inspects my bike (tyres all balled & ragged to the edges - thanks to Ali600/DJ's last track outing) and pokes & prods at the tread whilst sharing his profound knowledge with The Rook.(tyres were legal, where it counts anyway... even though i had to interject the fact)
FOC surmises the situation, bobbles his head and asks "so when was your last track-day"
(yes, i was tempted to ask him "what's a track-day?!" but thought i'd avoid the irritation)
then they run the plates... i knew all rego's etc were good...
until the cop comes back and says "mate, there's something wrong with your licence"
yup, my Lic expired on the
17th = $500 towards the Policeman's Ball

and a pillion ride home...
left the bike there (it's only a Hunda) and somewhat hoped it wouldn't be there today...

You probably didn't even get a notification for renewal from the rta did you?
My wife didn't the last time hers was up - you have to watch it yourself.
That sucks big ones.

If the money from fines went into the Police budget we'd be spending all day handing out fistfulls of them. Policeman's ball? Good one!
I don't see the point in taking your sweet time putting your gear back on just to piss the cops off. You're more likely to fail the 'attitude test'. I normally decide if I'm going to give someone a ticket within the first five seconds of speaking to them based purely on their attitude. There are some exceptions to this but thats the jist of it.

I think you may have missed the irony in Ardy's post.
