96 zx9 overheating

Hello all still having on going problems with bike it has overheated since i have had it , have replaced thermostat radiator cap fan switch flushed system out checked out water pump its ok , replaced coolant .
Noticed that there is bubbles at radiator cap with cap removed after riding when i turn bike off i get a lot of bubbles into radiator overflow tank to the point that it fills up and spits coolant out
any sugestions would appreciated thanks Trevor. :(

Have you bled the system properly ?? Does the thermo fan come on ?? and does it still Ping ??

bled system fan works not pinging blowing bubbles in radiator

Well today I had the pleasure of meeting Disco and TSZX9 in the quest of the overheating 9. Managed to take a few pics:

Thanks Wayne and Disco for ya help got engine out ready to pull down
not the thing you want to do just after buying a bike but i have run out of options.

I'm with Rossi and Oldmate. B model 9's were notorious for popping head gaskets!!! :(

Well because my brother is a complete computer retard (although in his favour he can lift heavy thing's :lol: ).....I thought I would tell you the result's from pulling the head off....

The gasket wasn't blown but there was coolent mark's between the water jacket and the cylinder(maybe shrinkage?) :shock: ....So the gasket was faulty....Is giving us a chance to tidy up a few other thing's while we are there CCT guides gasket's etc... :kuda:

Don't forget to replace the O rings around the plugs ;)

mate i know what you mean, i have a 02 zx7r sitting outside with an engine beside it waiting to find a bloody new one.

All i can say is NEVER AGAIN

Parts arrived on friday reassembled motor and fitted on saturday finished on sunday morning took bike for a ride runs great no overheating
overall a great fathers day present to myslef
