Hidden speed cameras Toowoomba to Brisbane

Received the following in an email a few weeks ago: (I thought it was bull)

Beware - New hidden speed cameras become operational at Blacksoil and Haigslea this Friday.

Also in 2 weeks another one becomes operational at Minden.

These new hidden speed cameras look like information boards telling you to slow down. They take photos across both lanes from 200 metres away.

Very Very sneaky …..

Came from a TAFE email. Wonder who found this out originally?

Yesterday was travelling home outbound through Blacksoil when I spotted the new 'information board'. Also spotted another inbound at Haigslea, and two identical posts without boards inbound and outbound in the new 80km/h zone at Minden. Stopped to have a look at the Blacksoil one- radar unit on the top, with exposed but insulated wiring down to board- might encourage vandals. No camera equipment visible but may have a camera in the centre of the board- an aperture that looks like a little cam is there. Phoned the manufacturer, via the phone number on device and the *VERY* cagey salesman would not confirm or deny cameras existence in these boards. Did however say that the Blacksoil one does not currently have a camera but one may be fitted in the future. Found out that if they did have cameras, images would be sent remotely with no need to change films etc. Guess that is one advantage of a digital cam.
Hmmmmmmmm.

Welcome to nsw with their use of wet film effectively phased out. However that is pretty freaking cheeky by QLD and Victoria standards.

I suppose the Qld govt needs the cash now thats apparantly broke and doesn't have to pay wages to someone sitting in a speed camera van

Never pays to speed through any of the 80kmh zones between Twmba and Bris, but with my ute registered in the company name I can just pay a higher fine (about 5 times more, last one was $750  ) for speed camera fines but not lose any points
