I just posted this in the "regular sydney run" thread will post again.
Around March I was riding in Parklea behind an old 4WD with "Road Warriors Cafe" on the back.
Talked to him over the next few sets of lights, he ran the "old" road warriors cafe.
Basic story from what I remember was that the owner decided to not renew the lease and was going to renovate and open for himself, either as some sort of cafe or some sort of food store, or some combination of the two.
The guy wasn't up to much anymore and wasn't sure what he was gonna do.

Sorry if this post sounds a bit harsh but I used to go the RWC, In fact I used to go to the older café around the corner that is now an overgrown slab over 24 years ago... but got sick of listening to other riders with egos too big & bragging about racing their buddies up the old road etc. It was always different crowd of people there & is one of the reasons I stopped going up the old road for many years, it was the sorta place that would suit someone like Mr B

Anyway, after joining KSRC I was tempted to head back up the old road & go to the PITS..... what a great place no over inflated egos calm & relaxing etc....... definitely on a winner

In the old days one would fly past & not give the PITS a second thought, the thinking back then was that it was for Beemer riders (sorry gunna) & bus loads of tourists.... my how the place has changed (for the better) & I for one will keep going to the PITS..... let the freaks & wannabees go to the other place it suits them

& the only thing that has really changed up there is the egos are bigger, the bikes are faster & there is more plod

Road Warriors (the old one) is a place that you either loved or hated. For me, I loved it. Not for the coffee or the food but for the people. Yes there were a bunch of wankers (by god there were wankers!!!) and yes there were overinflated egos and the loo's stank and the gravel was a shit, but I loved the place and I still miss it and Max and the girls every weekend

Most of the 'No Lifers' from RW now meet at Uncle Jerry's at Kulnurra and I doubt they will go near the new place out of loyalty to Max (myself included).
While i'm not a huge fan of PITS, like RW, I go there for the people. I enjoy heading up there on a Sunday and catching up with you lot and knowing there are friendly faces around should I get unstuck.
Thats the cool thing about bikes, it brings togehter people that under any other circumstance might not even give each other the time of day...... but whack a bike into the equation and everything changes. Pretty awesome things those bikes
See ya Sunday folks

The early morning crew at Road warriors were pretty good. We used to get up there before 7.00am for a bacon and egg brekky with some of the older hard nuts. In particlar an older guy named Phil on a BMW who was there every Sat and Sun at 6.45 for brekky and to read the paper. In winter Max used to light the fire outside to keep us toasty warm.
After 8.00am the tossers started turning up so we left.

Robracer, i had no idea about the old slab once being a cafe. The things you learn

.
I used to go to the old road warriors periodically and haven't really gone there for the last couple of years (before they closed). Personally i am happy to just go to the pie and never give the new cafe owner any patronage (aside from maybe stopping to leave a surprise in their loo if i get caught out). I think its fair enough to have a crack at opening a buisness for yourself, but not at the expense of absolutely fucking someone else over in the agressive manner used in this instance.
I hope they go bankrupt within 6 months.

I am refering to the slab (overgrown) 250 mtr round the corner heading north from RWC

Hello...
Yep can definitely confirm that the old Road Warriors is opened...
It's got new dunnies and crap coffee, but the raising toast aint
half bad... still not that difficult to get that right...
Hope someone has a word to them about the coffee...
It's not a bad little spot to stop and recover...
Richo and I had coffee there on Wednesday and I went there
today and had breakfast there... and it's still open !
Looks like a posh cafe now...don't know what it used to look like.
Shame, guys say it was pretty cool.
Andy...

That's roughly where i figured, i didnt think it'd be the u-turn point way further up north.
