G'day fellow riders,
I'm thinking of buying one off another forum
Can a factory steering damper from a 06-07 zx10r fit onto an 05-06 zx636?
Can I buy the mounting bracket or make one for it?
Anything I should know them before buying it?

I know a few others will be able to give you more help here in regards to whether it will fit, but the damper itself isn't the best. Its a cheaper Ohlins version. Mine works ok but I still do get headshake out of corners at the track and its on maximum setting. Been told it is pretty common practice to have them reoiled or removed for a better version... Mine seems to work ok but then again I havent ridden anything else to compare!

Can only endorse purchases made from this Forum ;)

I think there was a difference between the mounting points if this is the case you will need to check the compatibility of the damper not just the bracket.

So in other words most factory steering dampers are pretty shitty, can u do the reoiling in them Je self or best done by the professionals?
How much do you guys thinks the factory damper is worth?
Does anyone have a pic of their ohlins damper from a 06-07 zx10r they can upload? So I c the mounting points?

I Would buy from the forum but there's not much stuff out there atm. I thought ppl be selling alot of stuff now cause the resession and all. Guess everyone still out spending their stimulus package

I'm getting my OEM ohlins damper on the 2006 zx10 sorted out by Shock Treatment at the moment. Apparently they silver solder something to make it work better. (I know, I'm heaps of help!) I will let you know how it performs next trackday. If you get the damper for the right price all you'd have to do is purchase the mounts for the 6. Check out what the prices are like from a kawasaki dealer. i had to replace one of the brackets and it only cost $26 and the other bracket was only $33.

Just a thought.

Good luck and let us know how you go, as I have a 6 I might be doing also if it doesn't sell soon.
