The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction
time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police
estimate a speed of 250 KM/h (155 mph) before the bike hit the slow moving
car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the
rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient
enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the
bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually
flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the
collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This
graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the
Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also
noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.

At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is travelling at 227 feet per second. With
normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator
would have travelled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions
to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were
taken.

In other words, they didn't even have time to say, "Oh, ####!"

yeah i was thinking at 250k's it would have ripped the car apart but still thats one mad smash

Think I saw this first like 3 years ago now, here in Mexico the incident if it had of happened would have had about 85 odd speed cameras photographing it no doubt as that's the approximate number we have here per intersection.

All reports I've seen suggest that it's very real. The photo of the alledged crash scene looks real enough.

Yeah, Even most of the fairing looks to be in-tact.

Is it just me, or does the rear tyre look like it still needs to be scrubbed in? Maybe that was why he was going so fast, wanted to get that release agent off ASAP

yeah I thought it was real - but then I'm pretty gullible, so...
corvus - you're probably just seeing the residue of all the crap that gets everywhere after an accident - oil, flame retardent, etc.

It's good advice though, isn't it? As a fellow ZZR1100 rider, Seiko, you would appreciate that, while your bike may be capable of 280kph(or thereabouts), you certainly wouldn't try to achieve that except under "controlled conditions" and ,of course, in fact, it should go without saying, totally legally. I was just thinking about this the other day while I was riding up the Putty Rd.( at the speed limit, of course ) and I happened to notice how few intersections there were (none) . Hmmm..... At least one will not be T-boning some stupid car on it. Sigh... but I guess I haven't allowed for the total stupidity and incompetence of most drivers in saying that, have I?

Unless someone decides to do a u-turn right in front of you - at least you have a fair bit of visibility on the putty stretches.
