I need to get the 9 serviced. Minor service, plus I've got a busted baffle or something in the muffler. Also need new tyres. First service since I bought it, so I need it given a good once over.
I live on the northside, near Chermside. Work in the city.
I've had some horrible experiences but I won't muddy the water with those.
I've got plenty of places NOT to go, so I'm looking for a mob I can trust. Where do you guys go?

I got my tyres from 'Tyres for Bikes' @ 7 Hudson Rd, Albion (tel: 3262 4377)
Very resonable price they've got there.

DAMN STRAIGHT !.
I've been to most places on the southside over the past 15 years n i have NO Furking idea where i'll take "tiggr" for his next service. Fabiobert has a mate that may be setting up shop around Moss st/Logan somewhere if he does I'm checking him out if not I'll go to Alex at LAE.
Cheers Brett

Honestly for tyres...............see Mick @ MTM Goodna PH: 3818 1208.
Northside Mechanic..........see Darcy @ Bike Performance(Enoggera) PH: 3355 1089.
Both these guys are top blokes and won't rip you off. Hope that helps a little.

Yep plenty of people have good things to say about darcey as well and mick has the cheapest prices for tyres on the planet.

i'm with Glenn i've used Darcy for the last 3 years, top bloke good mechanic. Been to Micks for tyres good and cheap if you've got the time. Simon at Northside Motorcycles (Brendales) is also reasonably competitive for tyres.
You must be just around the corner i'm not far from the Chermside Markets (Woolies).

We're actually at Wavell Heights, just off Bilsen Road.
I'm booked in with Alex at LAE on Monday. With a couple of recommendations and the fact he's so close, he's worth a shot.

haven't been 2 lae, but used darcy in the past. the 6r is goin 2 bribane dyno bikes at wacol 4 the next service tho, quoted $370 for a full service, valve clearances reshimmed, forks pulled out washed & refilled & a dyno. pretty resonable i thought. sum wanted that much just to reshim the valves

I've been recommended Midtown Kawasaki at Bowen Hills, Haven't take my broken steed there just yet, but I bought a helmet from there, seemed like a bunch of good fellas.
Its another Team Moto place, so I'm a little wary after being screwed around at another TM shop.
Anyone got any good mechies on the Southside they'd be willing to share?

Believe the service guys at midtown did ok by Jibbers so i'll leave that for him to comment on, I did Whales for "tiggrs" first 2 services, bought a T- shirt got a minor warranty job done n MOVED ON. Wacol Dynabikes did my KnN fitment & dyno runs. May give them more work i think. Saw his mechanic at DP last week rolling bikes off a trailor for his kids. The bigger they are the less they give a toss imho.

Never had a problem with Midtown and Tony the Service Supervisor has always helped me out. However if you go to a bike shop i.e anyone in the Team Moto chain you are going to pay more as they have alot more overheads etc etc.
When it comes to the small mechanic i.e Darcy at Enoggera they are going to be cheaper, but you would be surprised how much they struggle as a friend of mine's brother owns MTM at Geebung and it is so cut throat.
My point after all that is the small mechanic really has to do a good job and offer good service because they need the return business and in the end I think it is a good thing.
Even though I have never been to him I would go to Darcy at Enoggera if you want to save some dollars or if you dont care Midtown is pretty good also, but you will probably pay $50-$100 dollars more.
Just as a footnote Tony has rang me twice for Mick's number at Goodna due to the fact when they don't have the tyres in stock they send them his way which is pretty good, it shows they are actually trying to help you.
When I told Tony the price I got my Powers for he was gobsmacked as the cheapest they could do them for was $490 from memory and I got them for $370 fitted. Just goes to show how overheads etc affect price.
Shit after reading the above sounds like I am rooting the guy but don't get excited I am not!!

I reckon places only struggle when they lose customers. Bike riders are more fussy than car drivers, because when we're up in the twisties and suddenly realise the apprentice didn't tighten that brake caliper properly you're in real trouble. You need to have peace of mind. That trust is hard to come by and easy to lose.
I went to MTM at Geebung for a fuel problem on the 6. They gave it a major service, still had the fuel problem. I took it back and they put it on the dyno "all day" and charged me $450 for a piece of paper with a curve on it but I still had the fuel problem. Nearly a grand down the tubes and the original problem was still there.
Took it to Jen's mechanic she's been going to for years at Tyres for Bikes. He found and fixed the fuel problem, but riding it around the block had an accident with a car. Not the mechanic's fault, but it still wrote off the 6. They gave me a shitbox as a loaner, but other than that wiped me. Wouldn't return my calls, and without going into the saga left me high and dry.
So now both those businesses will never see the thousands of our dollars they would have had if they looked after us. Everyone's got similar horror stories. I told Kempy I was thinking of going to Noyes, and he told me some horror stories of his own. The ripoff stories associated with Team Moto places you could write a book about. Most of those stories end up being 3rd or 4th hand, so you never know the real story except when it happens to you.
