Licence Question

Hey there kids,
my restrictions will be up on the 14th of March, my licence currently has R type of licence printed on it with the end date of 140309. Do I then get a new licence without the R on it? Or does the end date suffice and you just keep that until you renew your licence again???
Hoping all that made sense??
Will be upgrading in September when the bike I am going to purchase arrives in Oz

the R means you are licensed to ride a motorcycle, next to that R there should be a P1 meaning you are on a provisional and your provisional license expires on the 14/3/09. there is another expiry date on the bottom right of it which is the expiry date of the whole license, ie, your drivers as well.
On the 14th, you can no longer ride until you renew it. when you go in to renew it, you will still have an R, but no P1 or expiry date on it.
so it should be C R and anything else you can legally drive.
hope this makes sense.

OK Lisa sounds like you dont have to change a thing:
From the Vic Roads site:
Type of motorcycle licence that is issued:
The type of motor cycle licence issued to you (Full or Probationary) will depend on the type of licence (if any) that you already hold.
If you do not already hold a car licence, you will be issued with a probationary motorcycle licence which is valid for three years.
If you already have a full car licence, you will be issued with a full motor cycle licence but some restrictions will apply for a minimum of 12 months
A person issued with a motorcycle licence for the first time will have the following restrictions placed on their licence for 12 months from the date the motorcycle licence is issued:
If your motorcycle licence was issued before 1 July 2008, you may ride any motorcycle not exceeding 260cc or any Learner approved motorcycle. If your motorcycle licence was issued on or after 1 July 2008 you may only ride any learner approved motorcycle. View the approved list of motorcycles for novice riders you must not ride a motorcycle while carrying a pillion passenger (a motorcycle and sidecar is acceptable with a passenger)
you must have a zero blood alcohol concentration (BAC) when riding a motorcycle

When the E restriction date runs out then you are on your full bike license, you wont get a new license until it expires in 2012

Thanks everyone, I am thinking I just keep the same licence and if anything happens they will see the expiry date of the restrictions and will get a new one in 2012.
I did email vic roads all the same, if anything comes of it, I will let you all know.
Cheers

Just for the record, vic roads did email me back.
You don't have to renew your licence until the "licence" expiry date. With the restrictions applied on the licence, there's an end date for them, once that dates up you're fully licenced (which I knew that, DOH!!) and if pulled over, the end date's all you need to show them.
8 days to go then im able to ride a bigger bike, YAY. Look out september when the Iron 883 lands in my garage!!!
Cheers

Not the Iron, as it isn't out until september, but nightster.
And yeah, I like the baby sportster, it is a personal preference, just as you like your bike.
