Folks,

I'm rapidly deciding to spend my Krudd money on some stands and warmers to get the most out of the 30% of my track days that I spend warming up tyres.

Why would I get the head lift front stand if I didn't want to take the forks apart? They seem to me more of a PITA than they're worth to get in and up. And while I'm talking stands what is the plate for on the fork lift stand, is it supposed to be a counterweight to keep them the right way up?

And also if I don't need to fine tune my tyre temp. for track temp, slicks/wets, altitude etc. is there any benefit in getting the digital ones or should I just get the basic jobbies and use the leftover cash for some braided brake lines?

Can't help with the "which is better" stuff but Kaneg is your man...

get a head lifting stand. they are less prone to "falling off" than the under for ones.

one day your gunna wanna drop the forks or something they are handy

where's Blurr, he's had 2 bikes fall off the under fork stand.

in saying that robracer has a stand with these little pin things so it cant slide off.

Thanks for the reccomendation and helping out with your experiences with the stands, you basically summed it up.

With the warmers, if you're only doing say 4-6 track days a year vs 1 per month, the non digital may be the way to go. They set at 79C by the factory and the thermostat will cut in/out to keep it at that.
These are the same quality as the digital ones, the only difference that you can't alter the temperature and you're not aware of it's progress along the heating circle like you're with the digital one. (The only time that you'd want to alter it really is in the rain.)
Both, proved to be good work-horses and come with a standard 12 month warranty.
The difference in price is $50
KSRC people pay $349 non digital & $399 digital and that includes delivery to your place.

Tony, get the headlifting stand... I ended up with one because it was easier to work with the forks and feels alot more stable when removing the front wheel!

Deffo have to agree that the headlift is the go for the front stands.

except when u have a j series 6 and u dont quite get the pin in properly and u put a crack in the ram air intake

Perhaps take the front off to prevent a repeat?

get a longer pin,

it was the only one rob had at his workshop

Just check that you can use a head-lift stand before you buy one - I couldn't use one with my mutant and had to revert to an under-fork lifter (from memory the hole in the headstock is huge - much larger than any of the available pins) and on mine the fairing also hangs in the way.

Definitely check this first, I gave up on the head lift stand as they were such a PITA. Unless you do you own work on front forks I wouldn't bother.

OK, now onto warmers, why would I want my tyres kept at anything other than 79 degrees that the basic ones do? Is it worth it for the extra $50 to get variable temperature control?

Besides I kind of like the blue ones, and it's all about how good you look in the pits when you're as slow as me.
