KSRC Advertising

One of the suggestions in regard to spending some of our donation from Mornington Kawi was to take out an add for KSRC in a MC Mag or similar.
This would help promote the site, bring in new members and get a bit more exposure for our sponsors.
What are your thoughts.?

Anything that benefits the club and sponsors can't be bad in my opinion.
Worth a shot I say! Especially since their maybe a more of a market now that Kawasaki has put its rider's club on hiatus.

It's probably not a bad idea although I'd question whether anyone reads the ads.
What about something like an advertorial type thing eg do a story on KSRC. They probably wouldn't run it for free so you'd have to pay them to run it I guess
Other suggestions might be a promotional activity like a Barbie somewhere although I don't know where. Back in the old days you could set up a marquee at say Road warriors and bung on something but it's gone now and I don't know where ele you could do it.
Perhaps something at the Super's with maybe some input from the Kawasaki people?

I am with Glan as to people reading ads in the mags but i guess it would hurt.
i wonder how much it would cost have a stall at the motorcycle show like what Netrider does????
worth a thought

I was one of many volunteers a few years ago when GRO did this (not with them now) and it was a successful way to generate both exposure of the group and what they do, as well as enticing new members to join up.

We were offered a free stand at the motorcycle show a few of years ago.
I couldn't enough volunteers to man the stand so we didn't do it..
and based on current reports there may not be a motorcycle show this year..
We were thinking Mag advertising as its a national thing.
A BBQ or a stand somewhere will still need advertising to get new ppl there and may only attract the locals..
With the world supers being a national event, this would be a good place to advertise, but apart from giving out hundreds of KSRC stickers, what else can we do there. We're pretty hard to miss as it is...
Keep em coming..

I agree that we need something nationally.
I thought the MC show were going to be on rotation now between Syd and Mel each year
surprised that there is not nough volunteers

I don't know if advertising in a mag would be the best way to spend the money. I would put it back into the members that already exist. If you can stop it from burning a hole in your pocket use it for an end of year thing and divide it up so all states can benefit.
As for the mags can KSRC get a storey in one of the mags with out paying for advertising. I know if there was a storey in say AMCN it would mean one less article on Ducati's. A storey on KSRC at the world supers as it would offer a larger group with heaps of green and merchandise. The last issue of AMCN had an article on a club house in Mt Druitt so one on KSRC at the supers would be just as entertaining if not more.
If only there was a member who had contacts with national motorcyle magazines.

Dividing it up amongst the states, it won't go very far and I'm not sure what could be done with it.
A slab of beer and a BBQ in each state perhaps.. We do that anyway, so the thought was to do something "new" to promote the site.
We could buy some stuff and have another competition for members, but comps don't seem too popular, the photo comp isn't getting a lot of action and there is nearly $1000 worth of stuff on offer there.
But yeh, a story in a mag on KSRC at the Superbikes..
hmmm now who do we know with magazine contacts, and may be going to the supers, and possibly going on a KSRC ride down there.?..
It'll come to me..

Dave
exactly the reason why it has to be a mag....
(and I cheated this morning, I discussed this with our Nat Sales/Mktg Mgr at work & he agrees mag
)
but
placement/size has to be critical . Dont mix it up with all the other trade/parts/bits ads at the back of the
mag (AMCN or TW or whatever) ...try and grab a qtr page (yeah it costs) up front somewhere
two hints ...from our sales guru
1) make sure the mag ad has a carrot.........

with wording -
like a great bunch of ppl are at KSRC, meet us at PI for the Supers
...giveaways are a Kawasaki tee or polo
...or join us in our weekly ride, family friendly mudderboike riders
...or come online and talk for FREE on our site/forum ...
...no joining fees/no annual sub ......etc etc blah blah
and
2) make sure the ad has LOTS of pics so cut down on the wordage !
An advertorial or story does not work in his opinion. People will prefer to look at pics
NOT read a block of words. Remember you only get one chance to attract someone's
attention (a pic

) and then you only get a short span of attention as well
