Kudo's to Kawasaki Australia

Credit where credit is due.....

The fuel tank on the MFP12 developed a serious leak before Xmas - it appears that the welded join on the underside of the tank, where the fuel guage sender unit fits into the tank, has failed. The leak was pretty small to start with, but has gradually gotten worse.....to the point that the bike was unrideable.

Well, after some assistance from the local dealer (Canberra MC Centre), the green light was given for a new replacement tank today. Hopefully I will get the 12 back early next week, with the new tank fitted and no more leaks.....

So a huge thanks is in order, to Kawasaki Oz, for replacing this item 15 months after the warranty has expired. Of course, a fuel tank should not leak after only 3 and a bit years, so the decision to replace this tank is the right one. There was a recall on the 00/01 models for a fuel leak, although from what the mechanics have told me, the reason for *that* leak was for other reasons....

I've always found Kawasaki reasonable with warranty claims. A kawasaki dealer doesn't get that many to be honest. They are PF reliable for the most part....or at least they were when I worked in a Kawasaki dealer and all the Kawasaki's I have owned, have been PFG too!!! But even so, it was out of warranty....so yeah...Kudos!!! Good on em!!! :kuda:

Gos, are they vunerable to leaks, should I look out for this

or is it just due to the severe beating you give the MFP :kuda:

Good work Gos -- Glad you got it under warranty mate the bastard for the Gumbie was quoted at over 2K ex Japan so don't reckon the 12v tank would be much cheaper!?

Well done.

Good to hear Gos. Like others have said on previous posts your dealings with Kawasaki warranty can depend on the service you get from the dealership. I know Mike at Canberra is a very fair guy and always looks after his customer base.

actually it was the head mechanic who went into bat pretty hard for me !! Really happy with the outcome, but not impressed one bit that a tank would start to leak after 3 and a bit years ! :?

exactly mate, those fuel tanks on the old dungers have *never* leaked in 35+ years !! :kuda:

Hopefully they are not vunerable at all mate. If you ever smell fuel or see a pool of fuel under the bike.....check it out straight away. I don't give the MFP12 *that* severe a beating ? not

He does indeed - treat him with some respect, and you get it back in spades. He is a top bloke - threw in a $1000 gift voucher for a fundraiser we had down here last year, bloody great it was !

So now I just have to wait for the call, and pick up the 12.....can't wait, the Pearl has been consigned to commuting duties now for a few weeks ! and after her big *fang* in the mountains in January....well she is getting some k's under the belt this summer that is for sure.

Great to see some back up from Kwaka OZ..

A bit of goodwill goes a long way, there should be more of it from all companies....
