hey guys,

I am finally giving in to tempation and looking around for my first road bike...hopefully a ninja 250r. I found one i really like yesterday at what i think is a reasonable price but the only catch is it has 13000kms on the clock. its an 08 model and as far as i can tell it seems to be in great condition but should i be looking for something with lower kms or am i just being too picky?! lol

OR....should i be looking at something cheaper for a first bike? originally i was pretty keen on the hyosung gt250r's but after riding the ninja, ive lost interest. The ninja was more comfortable, more powerful and gave me more confidence....but of course its more expensive and if i dropped it i would prob cry, haha ;)
heres a link to it...

cheers,

The ninja 250 is definetely the way to go. As you have said more power and comfort. And you can really get those things hammering when you get a bit more skill and confidence. The only other sport bike I would consider in the learner legal range would be the Hyusong GTR650 but I would still probably choose the Ninja for the sake of comfort and reliability. Oh and welcome aboard mate. Hope to see you around the place.

As other's have said it's definitely not too much - and that price looks good if it's schmick.
For some perspective I got my GPX250 at 35000kms and put 60000kms on it in just over 15 months - the engine was no worse then than when I bought it.
This bike just sounds like it's actually been ridden rather than just kept in the shed.

13000 is good as long as it has service history because it means a major service has just been done.

you could always take it for a test drive never come back and ride it like you stole it.

:P

That whole "I'll leave my car keys and phone with you" test ride/drive situ is always a bit unusual. :)

There was one bike I was checking out when I was looking, I called the guy up and he said

"Sorry, it's gone man, a learner took it for a test ride this morning, binned it and payed full price"
"HA, oh no, how bad did he crash it"
"Was un-ridable, had to tow it"

AHAHA poor dude. Full asking price for a bike you've already wrecked.

Whoops, back to the topic.

Yeah man, 13000 ks is great! Mine had ~17k on it when I got it, it's just like a new bike.
