I have to say why bother? This is perhaps a bit harsh, but assuming you're riding a 250 as you are on your Ls, derestricting your exhaust may not be such a wise move. I doubt the bike will gain much, if any, extra power. It will simply get louder. Now, as an L plater who is probably already targeted by the law, do you really need to attract extra attention for the sake a deeper note?

Its just a deeper note, the cops really cant pull me up on anything can they??? its not as if its a power gain

yes they can. if its loud they can make you get it checked.

if they are having a bad day and pull you over for something, they can go to town on anything they can find.

i wouldnt worry about it on the 2fiddy. just ride the wheels off it and sell it to the next noob 8)

i wouldn't fork out the money for the pipes. i would put that same money to a superbike school and then a track day. a lot more fun than louder pipes.

if you really want to gut it, drill out the rivets on the can and remove the baffles. then rivet it back together.
ive seen this done but i am at work at the moment so i cant reference you to it.
this can possibly burn out your valves, as it decreases the back pressure.
could also possibly ruin the bottom end of the rev range. not that its great to begin with

agreed.. in short, gutting pipes on zzr250 not worth it for all of the above mentioned reasons plus.. they are an average sounding bike at the best of times. (I've had one)

Add that the resale value on the bike will drop also.

Options ;

1- Think about it , realise you will only have the 250 for a limited time till your skills / bank balance allow a bigger , better bike.

2- DON'T think about it and waste the deposit on your open class bike on bolt on's for the lil shit box which will have done little more than make it worth less , cop bait , and by being louder advertise the fact that YES I RIDE A 250!!!! :roll:

Mate NO MATTER what you do , an inline twin 250cc will ALWAYS sound like an inline twin 250cc!!!

Mate we've all been guilty to some extent and we've all regretted it later on ... Be smart and listen to the advise many of us didn't .

You can thank us later on your shiny new ZX6r which WILL sound :kuda:
