That's the worst part about the Gap, the truckers use it for a short cut and THEY DO NOT GIVE A SHIT about anyone else using the road, 4-wheels, 2 wheels, they want their lane and yours and THEY WILL TAKE IT. The Highway Patrol DO NOT GIVE A SHIT. I have seen a picture of a Highway Patrolman watching a big rig taking a corner and taking the whole road...seriously if the road is not capable of taking a semi WTF are they on it? I think the teeth on grill of the truck at 1:53 give you the answer (they are a bunch or redneck arseholes).

Personally I will stick with the Spurs and the GOR and you can have the rednecks .

I've been chatting on a US bike site for a few years and they always go on about Deal's Gap and the Tail of the Dragon (that's what the section of road at Deal's Gap is called). Mrs Tree and I got the chance to drive it, in a Porsche 914, when we were over there on our honeymoon. At the start of the Tail, there's a servo, a bike repair shop and a motel. People actually go there on holiday, just to ride up and down the Tail (and other awesome roads in the area).

The trucks ARE a nightmare. We were waved over by a biker because a truck was about to come around the corner we were about to head into. Good thing too!

The cops have been hammering the bikers for a while now, though, because too many people have gone over the edge and didn't make it home.
