Looking at getting my first road bike, is there any differances between the ZX2R and ZXR250? Because of some of them being imported, do some bike shops not like working on them?

All except for about 10 from 2003 are grey, haven't had a problem so far (only taken it to one place though :P)

ZX2R is a colloquial name given due to the other zx#r bikes (ie 6, 10); zxr250 is the official name.

As Conan said, you can blame the importers who got 2nd hand grey import zxr250's, polished them up and gave them zx#r stickers.

DO NOT DEAL WITH SUMOTO.

I dont like them at all, i had a few dealings with them and did a few thingd with them. Basically ended up losing $400 and had a huge tiff with them!

Ok i'll say it SUMOTO are a highly reputable company who have no drama's ripping off NOOB's.....FFS at least try bikesales or ebay. Dont just fall for their easy finance.....You'll be still paying for the bike long after its gooooone......

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought none of the ZXR250's were bought into aus as a fully compliance ADR approved local model, I thought all were Grey apart from non compliance race bikes?

Story as I've been told it; Malaysian company that had a bunch of zxr250 parts sitting in a warehouse went bust, Peter Stevens got the parts and built some complete bikes about five years ago.

dude, just go a gpx or zzr 250 and upgrade when you get your blacks, it's only a year, plus you'll ride like a noob for the first year anyways..and save money.

the risk of the imports is not worth it IMO..

I've got a ZXR250 and never have any dramas finding parts. I know RB Racing here in Sydney have parts in stock or can get a hold of them pretty efficiently. Kawasaki don't stock parts for them tho, apparently they don't even recognise them as a Kawasaki because they didn't import them!

So the only 250 Kawasaki Australia had out before the 250R was the ZZR250 and GPX250
