was thinking about this yesterday...

ever since i went to do my L plates, it appears ive been a two finger braker... the guy was always telling me to use 4 fingers (the accepted road technique) and that 2 finger braking wa what dirt bike riders did (he asked me if i'd done any MX )

so i think i'll put a poll up...

im fairly sure i use 4 in an emergency but if if just commuting or even having a bit of a weekend blat im a 2 finger man (insert 'cuda joke here )

i have tries using 1, but find it to be a little jerky.

when i had my xr600 i used 3.

and when you ride with drum brakes you neeeeeed 4 in emergencies you almost nee 2 hands

2 fingers when filtering, 4 when braking.

Oh, the "hayden middle finger" is comfy too !

Owen, I find I am a two & a half man.... the 3rd finger hovers in space while the thumb & little grip the throttle.
The third finger is also the most likely to get squashed (read CRIM before Brembo) in heavy braking situations, but no probs with the zeddy

i ususal use 4 when on the great western coz dumb shits in cars have no idea, but just are the streets i use 2, havent done enough fun stuff on the old road so ill have to wait to say that one.

started by using pointer, but found i couldn't control the throttle as well as i could when using the middle finger so now its all

i use first two fingers though when i'm wearing my winter gloves and obviously in an emergancy or extremely heavy braking i'll grab a fistfull.

I use 2 for washing off a bit of speed and 4 for the big jobs. I might give the middle finger a try when i get back on the bike tho.

I tend to use 4 all the time without thinking. A friend of mine got shortened levers so he can only use 2 finger for both brake and clutch.

Since my clutch lever is snapped i am forced to use 3, thinking of grinding it down to a 2 finger thing...

I voted for 3.. but im a 2-3 person.
Offroad tends to be 3 as it fits the lever comfortably and just feels natural.
Onroad I seem to use middle 2 fingers to wash off speed, index finger as well when heavier braking required.
I cant imagine that the little finger would ever exert enough force on the lever to consider '4 finger braking'

interesting peoples... im sure if you watch the great vale that he uses 4 fingers under heavy braking where as someone like hayden or stoner (dirttrack backgrounds) use two pretyt much all the time...
