This time nextr year i iwll have my full open licence so ill be definatly upgrading to a new zx6r 09 or a new zx10r. The thing is, this time next year my delear will have the 10r's run out sale and they will be 15,000 on road, instead o nthe 19,000, so that gets me thinking on going straight to a 10r. Is it a bad choise? I will have over 1 year street riding up my sleeve, im not a fool on a bike i no my limits, but whats best recomended. If i get a good deal on a 10 like you guys it would be reaaaaaallly hard to miss, i no iv got a year but i just wanted some thoughts. And thanks to you guys from my last post

I wont be buying a 10r or 6r untill i have my full licence

THANKS ALOT~!!

You'll have more fun on a 6 and its arguably safer ( depends who the rider is )

600's make you appreciate a 10 a lot more and a 10 makes you appreciate a 600 a lot more in different areas.
its in your right hand at the end of the day . if you are good with it then fair enough. otherwise a 600 *may* cut you some slack , a thou probably wont.
also depends on your riding style. if you like to rev a bike out and go around corners, get a supersport . ive had my 10 for a few months now, hardly rev it out. but when i jump back on my 600 it feels like a 250. so much fun .
going on that i really want an rs250 now.

My mate went from an across to his R1, so its not a bad step, just slowly learn the HUGE amont of power the 10 has and u will be ok.
However i went from a 2 > 6 > 9 > 10 and i think going to a 600 is a good step because there is a huge difference between a 250 and a 600 anyway, plus most 600's are just as capable as 1000's

thanks for the comments

as i said it wont be untill this time next year, and at that time ill have them both test driven so then ill decide. And because ill be eeping either the 6r or 10r for a good 3 years before even thinking of upgrading a 10r seems perfect cause its pretty much the best in terms of look and power

But they better not have the green 10r 09 model with a black tail, it doesnt look bad but id much prefer it all green

That reminds me, one of my workmates brought a CBR1000RR after five years away from his NSR250, he lasted 3 weeks before he lost control of his bike on a freeway on ramp and crashed it.
AN ON RAMP!!!!
And a CBR1000RR is a much more rideable bike, less grunt too.

I would go the 6. I am looking at buying one when i come off my P's.
They can be a lot more forgiving as ive been told, specially coming out of corners. Everyone i know that owns a 6 say that they love it, its a toy which you can throw around and it will forgive you if you push it that bit more. Where a 10 will punish you.
You dont need the mightly power of a 10 go fast either, you just have to know your bike and know your limits. Learn as much as possible about proper cornering and riding, do superbike schools and stay upright courses. When you become confident around the bends you realise that if you are on a 250, 600 or 1000 real power doesn't come from the size of the engine but on the riders ability.

If you didn't want that sort of answer then why did you ask the question? Most people can probably give you a similar anecdote....mine is a guy who went from a ZZR250 to a ZX12R and dropped it not long after in a simple manouver, and I was faster than him on my GPX250 I had at the time.
Having said that, I went from the GPX to a ZX9R without any hassles, although I had spent 2 years really learning how to ride the 250 and still took a while to adjust to the 9. A 10 is whole different kettle of fish again compared to a 9.

You my young friend are too defensive.......... you have already made up your mind
What a lot of people are trying to say, is that it will be a STEEP learning curve coming straight off a 250 and jumping onto a 10.
IF you have the patience to learn then you may be OK, but a litre bike of any make, will magnify any errors you may make and they don't take prisoners.
In acceleration terms a 6 is as good as a 10, it's only when you start getting to the top end of things that any real difference is seen.
It's your money/life, you takes your choice.......... but don't ask for advice and then spit the dummy if you don't get the answer you want to hear

The truth this one speaks!! (Yoda)
No body is trying to bag you 'papa' - A 10 is a class of it's own compared to other Jap litre bikes. Even the Gumby (the tamer one) will tear your head off and shit down your throat if it even suspects you are not an experienced pilot!!
I own an 04 Blade plus an 06 10 and regularly ride mate's Gixxa's and R1's and we all agree the 10 is the pre menstrual one!!!

The others are a little kinder if you don't quite get it right!? The 08's put out another 20 or so ponies by comparison so that has to be factored in too!!
Still think you'll have more fun on a 6 ---- I do normally!!

in addition to my previouscomment... always better to learn to ride the wheels off (and i mean really ride it) your 250 before u upgrade to a bigger bike... having just stepped up to a 01 600, i can tell u its a totally different ball game... will still feel like it wants to rip your arms off (given a proper handful) and it will feel like an old fat pig the first time u try a set of twisties...
i can say now if i got the chance to throw a ninja 250 down a set of twisties again, id be on it straight away.. sooooooo much fun to be had
