hey guys,

Well i might have a new scoot lined up! its a 2003 Z1000. It has minor damage and is ex-auction bike.

The bloke selling it is letting it go cheap. From what i have seen in the pics its only the Tank which has a graze on it and Radiator shroud which is missing. Needs a new bar end which he has, mirror is scratched but ok to leave as is, muffler is scratched but not worth replacing.

What i need to know is whatever anyone can advise me on with these bikes, if they are any good, peoples oppions on them, is it worth getting it ? he is letting it go for $3800.

He seems like a pretty genuine up front person, so i dont feel like he trying to stooge me, but i want everyone else "expert" oppion!
This is my step down from the Crim, but i want a more road friendly bike. So what is the Z1000 like overall esp the 2003 model. Anything to nit pick at ?
Also if anyone else can help me out with the tank and rad guard would be swell!

I have sourced up a new tank for $800. So thats quite alot better!
When u say Susp is crap, as in its setup up crap or its just not very good from factory ?

it's a poverty setup, suspension in only one front fork and the rear shock/spring combo is like a pogo stick
front feels rather wobbly.. but they really are a fun bike ( I love mine .. may/may not have been doing little power wheelies on fri home from work):D

hmmm interesting, does it feel dangerous wobbly ? is that why its fun? your unsure if u will live or die ? What positive things are there ?

What about others, where is Neka, i know he has one!

Tanya's bike is fun to ride It didn't feel dangerous to me, just front felt light, but I was getting off my ZX7R though

i did 1.49's around Eastern creek on mine, stock gearing, stock pipe, on BT014's with stock supension.
on the zx10r i been doing 1.46's

its not dangerous, but it does need a bit of work to be great.

they are quite a capable bike

They are a bit wallowy but they are fine. They are a fun bike because they are easy to throw around and wheelstand and have enough go in them to keep up with anything in the tight stuff on the road.

But mine is completely different to a standard one

I wouldn't call the standard ones dangerous.. they can be twitchy, but that's half the fun
I actually installed a steering dampener before I had the suspension done, but now it's pretty much turned off, it's just there for looks unless I'm on a really bad road

I bought an orange Z1000 brand new in 03 after " stepping off" a 00 ZX12. I did notice the missing horses but the bike more than made up for it in fun. The handling was a little soft for me, especially on the track at QLD raceway (im 85kg) but not that bad to slow you down!!!. They are a very well balanced bike and they do fantastic wheelies !!! as seen in my pic.
Alot of fun. you won't be dissapointed for that price, i say go for it.

Yep i finally purchased it today, Its total cost of $5000, with 15,000km's, twin Yoshi TRS, red with black rims, it is repairable write off, but me and owner came to agreement that he will get VIV inspected and passed + 12 Months Rego for the price.

It was written off due to bein uneconomical to repair. Thanks for Kawasaki's bargain parts!

So i am pretty pleased and i pick it up in 2 weeks once VIV and rego are done!
Woot, first time i have ever owned a Non-ZX series bike! But i love a good wheel stand and want something bit more town friendly!

Also i will be in Melbourne in 2 weeks time i arrive 10th or 11th, and deciding might leave a week later so i will be terrorizing the streets of Melbourne!
