I fixed it!!! (Sorta... advice needed)

Ok, so as some of ya know, I had a prob with the bike on the way back from Brookie :? .... which turned out to be a nut that had come off on the manifold ..

Now, Im not the most mechanical minded person, and I thought it would be a pretty simple process .. I mean, ya just gotta put a nut back on right?

Well, couldnt be reached unless I took off the front screen, the lower fairing, the side fairings, the instrument display, drained the radiator and popped that out too! .. faaark me! :? :? (first time, so it was quite daunting for me!)

Below is how the poor ole thing looked, just to get to the nut (which had fallen off, and the other one was just about to aswell)

Put it all back together today without too many dramas.

Thing is, I reckon its been loose since I bought it. :? Why? .... Shes never had real good top end .. from about 7 thou up, its always been struggling. I thought it was in need of a tune up.

I tell ya, I found meself some extra ponies! .. The thing rocks now!!!! :D :D :D :D 8)

Anyway, thanks to all who offered to come wipe my tears when this problem arose. Its great to know the help is there.

SEEYAS SUNDAY!!!!! :P :P

Glad to see it was a relativly easy fix, just be warned though, once you have put it on and been for a couple of rides, the nut may need retightening as they sometimes tend to come loose after a couple of heat cycles, I'd just keep an eye on them.

Ok .. so it ran better .. but noticed some farting and slight backfiriring coming from the pipe at the front.

Just took it all off again (gettin good at that now  )

There is some exhaust escaping from the lower part of the manifold ... It doesnt matter how loose or how tight I tighten it, it still keeps comin out.

Any suggestions?????

Dave ... Wanna come over for a beer??? ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

There is a copper exhaust gasket in there that gets crushed when the exhaust is first tightened up ... If things get loose & you cant get the same compression on the gasket you will get a leak... only fix new set of copper gaskets & it requires pulling the headers forward to get them in :?

Dave popped over (thanks Dave!) ... got it down to a very small pfft .. so will see how that goes.

Otherwise, will get a new set of copper gaskets for the bitch.

Thanks all!

Send them an email to find out the specs & availability & try MCA's or MAW for local prices.... once you find out the size... NB: the outside diameter is what you will need to know ;)
