Another Silk Purse Project - zzr250
After a number weeks stripping, cleaning, fixing, cleaning, patching, repairing, high pressure cleaning, scrubbing, painting, cleaning and more cleaning, project zzr is looking and going well..
The bike was donated to Jus by Mick and T as it had been sitting in there back yard for a while and was in need of a lot of TLC. Thanks guys..
We got it home after the P.I. superbikes thanks to Glen, and immediately started cleaning it up.. It was pretty messy, but we got it going and seemed mechanically OK so we figured it may be worth a bit of time to make it something decent.
We went through 4 cans of degreaser to get the crap of it and to be able to see what were up against..
We stripped the front bodywork, tank etc and patched bogged, sanded and painted it. Whilst stripped we had the carbies out, cleaned em up, new plugs, new oil, new air filter (sorta, it was cut from an old zx9 filter) tidied up the wiring. dropped in a new battery and generally cleaned up everything. Dumped the fork oil, added heavier weight oil and 60 cents of preload to each fork leg, flushed the radiator, bled and cleaned up the brakes and sprayed the frame.
Damo did a great job painting the fairings and helped fit them up. We got her going last week and fixed up the all the lights and blinkers for rego. The finishing touches went on this weekend (thanks Rob for the stickers), flushed the radiator again, some fresher oil and some more tweaking of the carbs to get it running nicely..
Jus is taking it in for blue slip this week...

Nice work mate. Looks a bit prettier than it did on the back of the trailer.
So now you'll be at home working on bikes while looking after the kids and Jus will be out riding.......You sure there's nothing else wrong with it??????

Very nice looking bike indeed.
You've done well Dave, i mean Jus!!!
