lots and lots of dirt, and a good portion is in the middle of nowhere, not the sort of road you'd attempt without company IMOmick_dundee wrote:Seems from what I can gather this is a decent motorbike road somewhere sw NSW from waht I can gather, anyone know anything about it as kinda heading in that direction within the week.
Oh and from the bits of the barry way and so on i did, i have to agree 100% to have this ride done with at least two mates just in case shit goes pear shaped. I'm not sure if i'd redo this ride on a dirt bike again, let alone another fricking roadbike.me wrote:Ok, looking at the pics inspired me to figure the actual path we took from Sydney to Cowes. i give you
the mad path we took [maps_google_com_au]
Basically the path is 95% there, except the fact that google maps can't handle f-grade dirt paths out in the middle of b-f nowhere. on that map where you do a u-turn on burnt top Track and go back north, well you can actually keep going along that fire trail, slowly. You keep going and you'll eventually pop out on Burnt Top road and end up at Mirimbah and then hightail it along the main roads and get down to P.I.
It is NOT an easy path on a dirt bike, let alone the fact i was on the street-shod EL250 in the above pictures.
Would i consider doing the same trek again someday? perhaps. on the same bike? absolutely no fricking WAY. But it was a huge learning experience, especially for someone that was 2 months into his learners.
