Just picked up some good condition BT002 of ebay. 3x hard rear and 1x soft front for $280. Should last me a decent time seeing as the M3s still have crap loads left in them ( from a commuters view anyway). Now all I need is some rear brake pads and re-jet and I'll be all set for my next trackday. Pitty that's not until december by the looks. Anybody have some rear pads for a 2000 zx6 they wanna get rid of? I have some fronts that I don't need just yet.

Kewel, don't mind the early 002's. Are you using Warmers ?.

I looked at those too, but couldn't get them to Melb in time for thsi weekend - ended up wiat a reasonable looking pair of Pilot Race

I don't have any warmers. This'll be my first trackday so I (hopefully) won't be taking things too aggresive. Ofcourse, later through the day I may want to ramp things up a little sooner but I'll either just have to be patient or steal somebody elses.

I'd say you'll be fine without them for your first trackday. Certainly for the first couple of sessions you will be out learning the track, working out lines and braking points. The tyres will warm up fine before you're going hard enough to worry about pushing them. In the latter sessions just make sure you pace yourself for the first 3 laps. Not only will cold tyres slip more easilly, but you can cause cold tearing to the rubber and it will never be quite right again.

Most of all have plenty of fun - I plan too.

I can vouch for that, just take it easy for the first couple of laps per session, take the first two sessions to learn the track, brake points and so forth. and then just try elaborating on that later in the day. Just remember not to try going and smashing any records as that ain't gonna happen, especially after a first day out.

Looking at my tyres at the end of the day i barely balled them up at all, i tore them up about as well as a good blast through some country roads, so f-all really. Next up is to do a roadcraft course or two and practice practice practice and be more proficient on the thing in general, THEN do another track day, which im just itching to do.
