E10, RONs and boosters

I know I've seen a few posts either here or elsewhere about whether you should/shouldn't use E10 because of various possibilities of eating through things or damaging things, whatever. Not what I'm here for today.

My questions is actually to the RON of E10. Shell's website says their E10 is 94 or above and Mobil claim there's to be 93 or higher. Is there anyone out there on a bike that says 'only use 95 or higher', and get away with using E10? Secondly, would it be safe for my bike, which does say it requires 95, to use E10 and an octane booster. (haven't checked the sums to see whether that would be cost effective yet, just thinking out loud atm).

Also is it possible to 'tune' a bike to a lower RON? I remember my mum's old car getting 'tuned' to unleaded petrol when that first came in, but this is probably different.

What are you Sydney siders paying for ULP / BP Ultimate 98 these days out of curiousity?

Most octane boosters don't actually work too well. Hardest part regarding tuning an engine to suit is that the base fuel and the additive's MUST be the exact measures every time.. Chucking about half a bottle in when you fill er up doesn't quite cut it.

There are so many stories out there about the ethanol content fuels it's hard to know what to believe any more.

My main concern would be 'lean out' which is common running alcohol based fuels in non alcohol calibrated fuel delivery systems.

FYI the local Yammie dealership here swears that NO other fuel should be used but standard ULP!? (every R6/R!,YZ-F 250/450 etc that I know specifies "95 RON" as a minimum!?
When I asked why not , they showed me the bulletin from Yamaha motorcycles which more specifically referred to ethanol mix premium fuels rather than premium / ultimate 98 etc as such.

Ultimate about 167.9-169.9 mid week in Sydney standard 91 octane 158.9 or thereabouts... But over the weekend this can raise 10 cents per litre or more... Premium 95 about 165.9-167.9

Id steer away from E10 until the manufacturer specifies that its OK to use!

I reckon run 95 spec fuel as 98 is no massive gain and the savings for E10 are not that significant ;)

put the usual approx 13lt's (just after the light comes on) . cost here is about $26.00 .

$1.91/lt for ultimate !!!

Just filled the car at the Shell at lane cove, Paid 159.9/l for ulp, e10 was 154.9, didn't pay attention to the premium(vortex in this case) when filling the car as i dont use it in the car (efficiency is the same, negating any benefit from running costlier fuels), think it was about 163-164 or so though.

I run E10 in my bike all the time and have done so for the past 2 years, usually deal at the local United or Shell service stations and it is marked as 95 Ron on the pump, have not had a problem with it to date and have indulged in some very spirited trips away with the mates. The bike was dyno'd with E10 in the tank, starts first time every time and goes really well. I also run E10 in my car which is a GTi and it performs very well also (just not as fast as the bike).
