zx6 prices in eastern states?? WTF?

Ok i'm looking at buying myself a '05-06 zx6 since the wife now has my (lowered) '02 as her bike now.

Why is it that an '05/'06 is around $9k in qld & nsw, yet the same bike is around $11k in vic? (i'm in vic, or this would not be an issue for me obviously!)

I'm considering buying a bike interstate, but once you consider finding someone to look at the bike for me, the transport cost, insurance & then having to rwc, bike inspection & transfer the rego over, that $2k saving becomes a LOT less - possible making it seem kind of annoying, but one of those things we just have to deal with "down south".

What i don't understand is why is a state where it is warmer, & nicer to ride a bike in winter, CHEAPER to buy in!!, than a colder state where the bikes generally live in garages all winter?

Having said that, anyone in vic got a blue '05/'06 they are happy to sell for around $9k??

(have aus delivered cbr250rr to sell too!)

Ironic thread seeing i live in NSW and ended up looking at bikes in VIC and WA because the ones here were way too expensive.

I bought the bike from WA btw, and just like you guys we need to get it road certified, rego transfered etc. It was an expensive experience but i got the bike i wanted.

The one thing you are going to find out very quickly is that there are very few 'bargain' bikes out there. A lot of the ones which are significantly cheaper are like that for a reason. The only circa $9k 05 zx6r's i've seen around are in pretty bad nick.

Unless you love a bike, and its extremely hard to get, i would usually advise against buying interstate. However, i wanted a 2000 model zx9r in immaculate condition, black with low kilometer's. I took whatever i could get, and that just happened to be in WA.

Realistically i think the problem is this. It just "feels" that whenever you want something, everywhere else seems to have it except where you are. If you have a little patience you will probably find a good one, at a good price with a bit of looking. Otherwise, its about $380 to get one transported from Sydney to Melbourne :)
