I find that I can doddle around doing the right thing 99% of the time no problems... but I have huge issues with the remaining 1%...

...is it just me?

Is there a specific context here?

Doing the right thing as in...

Keeping within the speed limit - 99% of the time, er probably not

Keeping speed down to something sensible if a little over the limit - 99% yeah

Stopping and helping a fellow motorcyclist stranded at the side of the road - quiet often

Holding a door open for a lady, always

Keeping my eyes averted in one of 'those' situations - not a chance

I think most people would say the same thing.

You cannot do the right thing all the time - it's not human.

I once witnessed a car accident as I was driving along the motorway. The right thing to do would have been to stop and make sure everyone was ok. The dilemma I had was that it was on the motorway and I had my 4 year old daughter in the car with me. If she hadn't been in the car I would have definately stopped but I wasn't going to risk her life for anyone else's.

I did however make sure that I went past again after I dropped my daughter at pre-school and the police and ambo's that I had called were already there so I just continued on past.

That could be it.

For someone who rides everywhere and has had a few 250's, two 600ccs, one 900ccs, one 1000cc bike and now a 1200cc master blaster, I don't think two speeding fines since I started riding is that bad at all (especially when one of them was absolute rubbish).

I'm currently on a good behaviour license, so if you see someone on a faded-to-pink ZZR250 stopped at the back of a line of traffic, accelerating very slowly, or riding at a dangerously slow pace, then that's probably me

Hardly even brave enough to take the 12R out, and much less to any half-interesting roads. Just take it for a run into the city for a smoothie or a quick run to our mum's places every now and then.

Thats pretty much what i did for the year of my probationary license. I could count the number of non-commuting rides i did on the one hand, and the number of group rides i did in that time was zero.

Relaxing the sphincter a bit more when riding now, but i've gained a large slice of contempt for the bullshit that can pass as laws around here. I obey 99.9% of them, but it doesn't mean i have to like it.

Well you lot might have the roads and the corners , but the "see bike - must book" attitude I hear about by the [loosely termed] law woud really shit me!!

Here the local blue brigade are pretty reasonable proviso you keep the front wheel down and the right wrist easy in their vicinity.

Hell it may have been alleged that persons fitting a similar description to my good self (your honour ) have gone past an unmarked late model sedan or two piloted by certain light blue uniformed persons around a corner at well let's just say speed limit 2nd time over or better!?

Being that their ain't too many black 10's round here (1 to be exact!!) There is never much more than a frown or a flash of the lights.

---Mind you - I keep it all serene and sedate around town and 'they' know and appreciate that .. ie waves /nods from coppers as you go past.

i had the same thing when i used to come home from my midnight shenannigans in the torana. I'd be the only loud as heck car coming through a ghost town that goes to bed at 8pm, and they would either leave me alone, or pull me over for a chat. I could smile and nod as they went past with rubber sprayed all up the back guards. one cop hated me but, I Used to go around the block once or twice, chuck a few donuts then race back home, hide the car out the back and watch the paddy wagon fly past looking for me heheh
just today heading to work some knob cut me off infront of 2 police cars, I exaggerated using my rear brake, and took off like all hell, but didnt get their attention.
I havnt run into any brisbane cops on my bike so far, my brother on the other hand, is the SLOWEST probationary rider EVER.
