Well Hello, this is weird, I never thought I would be joining a bike forum, but here I am.

I am on the Central Coast of NSW, and having not ridden a bike in about 20 years I just purchased my first bike, an EL250.

Does anyone have, or could they please direct me to reference material on the bike, like manuals etc. All I have been able to find is an online manual from America, is there something I can get here in Australia?

Also is there any type of group on the Central Coast, that does rides etc?

Thank you in advance for any and all co-operative and understanding responses.

Well not exactly the most welcoming of forums I have been to. I know it's only been a day up, but you'd think someone could have responded. Must be the bike, because even though it may have been a popular seller it's difficult for a newby to get information on, and even harder to get people to speak to you when you admit to having one.

Seemed like a fairly decent forum.

I think what you got here is a fairly unusual response from KSRC. People obviously did not have the information you requested, and so had nothing to offer. On the "must be the bike" comment, this is a sports bike rider forum and you asked about a cruiser. The right brand, but perhaps not our area of expertise.

I say you got an unusual response, as members here normally dive in, hijack the thead posting about everything except what you ask, welcome you to the forum and warn you about Neka.

I'm sorry we don't have the information you require, but can testify that these here people are a great bunch who would never gaffa tape someone to a camping chair and walk away shouting, "to the ayeport".

Yeah dude this is not a machine that many forum heads would know about being a entry level cruiser and this being a sportbike crowd. I was going to comment prior but decided not to as I didnt want to seem negative or moreover appear condescending to you regarding your bike. The lack of response to your post I guess is everyone feeling the same
hoping they dont have to tell you. It could have been much worse with derogatory replies and people taking the piss  but that didnt happen. This is a great forum with mostly well meaning bods who in my experience
treat novice riders and newbies with respect and understanding, provide heaps of advice and tips, and often meet for great rides. When I joined this mob I had a Moto Guzzi shafty which is as relevant to the forums target enthusiast as your
EL250, nobody gave me shit but then I didnt go looking for it. KSRC are a good mob now HTFU, or get a zx10 :P

Haynes dont do a manual for the 250 but do do one for the 400/450 varient, other than that try your local kwaka dealer
or go surfing.

ps Bikes are bikes so 85% of what goes on in this forum will be relevant to your interest in two wheels regardless of where your handlebars are. enjoy! ;)

Ah, EL250, take a gpx250 engine, tune it for lower revs, throw a pissy little fuel tank on the bike with some pullback bars and sell her to the public :). Not to worry, i used to have one of these the same vintage as yours and used to ride her a bit hard, even to Philip island and back (which nearly killed the bike AND me).

I have a manual excerpt here for the EL250 of a slightly older era (92 or so, but its all the same aside from wheel type (mags vs 94's spoked rims) and some minor aesthetics), i meant to give to someone else yonks ago but i was basically a slackarse and forgot  , so i still have it in the garage i think. From memory being a supplimentary manual it only covers the differences from a gpx250, which are basically frame shape, wheels, cam, gearbox (shorter final ratio) and some minor electricals, but it still manages to weigh in at about 200+ or so pages...

If i find it, it along with any gpx250 manuals you find out there ought to have your bases covered for anything you need to do to her.Assuming you want the manuals that is.

Just PM me for an address and i'll send it out tuesday or so.

Oh and welcome!

I can give you a link to the GPZ and GPX 250 which are the base manuals if you like and as I said I could scan the EL supplement when I get home but it is only $25 from Kawasaki.
Let me know.
