THE FLAG MARSHALLING !!!

In a completely unplanned, and therefore outstandingly successful coup, no less than 5 members of KSRC pitched in yesterday (Sunday 4th May) at Wakefield Park, and assisted the PCRA to conduct a round of their Club championship.

Ducati Paul has been requesting members to come along to PCRA meetings and assist with flag duties, and yesterday all the planets aligned..........

Mr Wasabi and Mel had already volunteered, Smek was kidnapped, and Plas and myself, up there to cheer on Billy (and get my new track-bike given the once-over by the PCRA chief scrutineer), were also deemed capable and responsible members who could assist with the marshalling

It was a really successful days racing. All the newbies to marshalling (Plas, Nickos, Mel and WasabiSan) did a great job.

I have placed this topic in the 'General' section, not the 'Race' section, to try and encourage members of the forum to come along to a PCRA event, and help out with marshalling.

Its a long day for sure , 8am to stumps (generally around 4-4.30), but you get free entry, lunch and plenty of drinks and nibblies during the course of the day. The Race Control will give you instructions on flag use, and during the race they will radio out to individual points to advise on which flag to wave, and when. So you won't be left wondering if you have waved the wrong flag. You also get a fantastic view of the actual racing.

If anyone on the forum feels like helping out at the next PCRA event (most of which are held in Sydney at OP or EC), then jump onto the PCRA site, and let the organisers know.

It would be excellent if we can make sure the PCRA are able to run their meetings with enough flaggies, and getting enough flaggies is *always* a drama. There are a few KSRC members here already racing, and some others who will be racing soon , so it would be great to have some more KSRC presence at the local Sydney race meetings.....

Why don't you post this up on the PCRA website too Gos, maybe with a link to this site. KSRC did PCRA a great service at Wakefield yesterday and it's only fitting that the racers know where we come from. I for one will be putting my hand up to wave a flag at the next PCRA event up here too.

Yeah I'm going to put the post up there, well wordrd Gos I was trying to think how to put it there as I want them all to know the reason they were racing was because the KSRC crew came to the rescue!

Poor bastards never realised what they had let themselves in for obviously WTG team, now if you can do something for the Kwaka moto gp team....

this thread will probably drop off the front page pretty quickly , so all further info about race meetings, dates etc, should be found in the 'Track/Racing' forums.

The next PCRA meeting is on the 8th June, at Oran Park North circuit ( the figure 8 circuit).

Only 4 marshals are needed for this part of OP, so if we could get 4, that would be fantastic. Its also the meeting where the PCRA is celebrating 20 years of 'Bucket' racing (small capacity 2 and 4 stroke bikes). So the meeting will be a memorable one for many reasons.....

Any budding flag marshals on KSRC, keep your eyes open on the track/racing forum for further info....

Was a blast marshaling for the day, great way to see the race, get a free feed and contribute as well. Billy boy and Ducati Paul were cutting around at a decent pace too.

Marshaling is a piece of piss (when ya radio works ) and a fun day as well, so get on board and have a go peoples, I'll be putting my hand up now I'm back home and doing some more over here.
