I don't know how many of you surf through the forum, but i am in a habit of checking the new posts, view active topics and unanswered posts constantly.
Basically it gives me a breakdown of whats happening, where the conversation is at and threads i might want to contribute to...

The problem (well not so much a problem, more of an inconvenience) is that i can only click on these links when i am at the board index. So if i am in a particular board, say Gen Disc, and i want to quickly see all active posts, i would have to return to the board index and then click on the link...

Sure, doesnt sound like a problem, like i said, its more of an inconvenience.
I was just thinking that it may be a good idea to move these links where the "User control panel" and "View your posts" current is. As this section is displayed in all forums.

Would make moving around here easier...that is of course if i am not the only one who moves around here like that...

then again we could always do a poll, but i thought id ask the question first.

I dont think we have that much control over the actual layout of the phpBB3 setup. I think it's what you see is what you get.

Anything's possible. If I remember I'll have a look at this in mid-May when I get my life back.

No idea on the technical stuff, but as a work around until a smart arse gives you an answer, you could try having 2 windows open - one with the post links and one where you click (open link in new window). You can read and return to the list without any issues - I think.

Exactly Mike. I run Maxthon as my browser for that exact reason.

When I log on I click on "View new posts". When the list of new posts pops up, I simply click and drag to open them in a new window and read them one at a time...

The current post view option would be handy, but then we would miss out on the useless crap that Nath posts. Having said that i use the "Breadcrumbs" (I think thats what they are called). that way it takes you back to the Sub topic.

Thanks for the tips guys. i currently do all that, i am a big fan of maxathon, but started using firefox cos since i formatted i couldnt find my m2combo.exe to install it again... and i couldnt be bothered downloading it...
aardvark, you might want to try firefox, since downloading it ive discovered that middle click over a link and it will open in a new tab...no more click and drag or right click, open in new tab

Sure its possible, would be a manipulation of the php code.
Sounds simple, but last time i was dealing with php all hell broke lose...

Thanks Dave, its no hurry mate, just throwing it out there as a suggestion.

You can configure the buttons in Maxthon to do all of that, plus more. Maxthon is probably the most configurable browser available.

I'm currently lacking in the motivation department Billy... the shed is still half full of pavers and the place looks like a bombshell hit it. Once the paving is finished (only another 20square metres to go) I'll get onto it.

I just use the "Back" button in my browser to return to the new posts.

Buy a floodlight

As more motivation , I'll send you some A747 and you can put it in one of those oil burners with the candle underneath . That should do the trick .
