whats to do in Canberra apart from pron and fireworks????
Getting sent over there from tomorrow until the 9th of May (maybe longer) and I'm wondering what I can do. Still don't have my fun ticket back so test riding every bike in the city is out of the question, and theres far more pron on the intermenet, far cheaper, so novelty there. I'm pretty sure if I let fireworks off in my hotel room they'll kick me out (but I'll double check when I get there). Any semi sensible ideas are welcome......
Cheers

Another figment here

.
There are places that sell beer

. And a bike coffee group that meets on a Monday night. If you're in town on 26/4 you can come help me and PC pull my ZXR to bits

.
Plenty of stuff to do, just don't get too caught up with that undesirable Gos, he's sure to lead you ashtray.

Probs best thing u could do from Canberra is have a few weekends away! Sydney, Down the South Coast via Braidwood is good... Kangaroo Valley is good if you have a missus... Get to Bowral, Berrima, Jindabyne way
Manuka is pretty schmick for a feed and a quality bar (Minq i think its called) otherwise City or Kingston is good too.
Just my experience living there for 6 months about 5 years ago... Canberra's got some great rides just out of the city with plenty of country roads!!!
Not trying to diss Canberra but it is small and not much to do unless you meet people...

Mate I have a complete ZX6R to rebuild when I get back so I think I'll pass on the ZXR....although I'm a great supervisor
Anything I do has to be public transport/taxi accessible as my license and I won't be reunited until June 18. this beer thing you speak of sounds good.....tell me more

I'm flying solo over there, missus and kids will be at home. How hard/expensive would it be to do a weekender to the big smoke in Syd-a-knee?

Syd is about 270-280k's away... Just depends on what your driving/riding??? 3hrs boring straight drive. Plenty of cops around Goulburn so be careful v easy to get to though!
And if you can look into it drive down to Batemans Bay towards the coast... About 2 hrs! Older road nice drive. Price of Accom is dependant on your budget! Batemans Bay area plenty of caravan parks to a cpl of exe places... Some great beaches if the weather is right!

I have been thinking... about the best I can come up with is to go to Gos's place and drink his bourbon (I'll even join ya in that... if I'm in town that is

hehe)
Sydney's only a short run up the Hume... sometimes you can get cheap flights up, just depends on what the airlines are doing at the time.
Monday nights a bunch of riders all gather at Tilleys in Lyneham for "coffee" (read beers or coffees or bourbons if you are PC and standing around talking shit) it's pretty good! something to do anyway...
There's all the touristy stuff to do as well... War Memorial is a good one to visit... museums and all that kinda stuff... if you're into that kinda thing
If you want, I can have a singstar party in your honour while you are here! They're always fun

Take a BMX and go to Melba BMX track - it's awesome. Once you're knackered doing that, Gos live just up the road where he tempts people off the street with a magic line of Doughnuts.

Sorry Mel, the Geneva Convention prevents me ever singing.....its cruel and unusual!!!
Might find my way to the coffee night though...sounds like a good option

I bet after a few bourbons "cruel and unusual" becomes "fucking rockstar material"
well that's what happens to me anyway...

Sydney is very cheap on the bus and I'm sure I can find you somewhere to sleep.
I'll be offended if you don't come visit

Either that or we could organise a get together somewhere in Canberra.
