Leaded or Unleaded

For some time I have been adding the lead replacement mixture to unleaded, but have recently been informed that Japanese bikes started running on straight unleaded fuel even before my old machine (1983 GPZ 750).
Anyone have a definitive answer on this ?

thanks

I'm pretty sure that's correct..

someone is bound to disagree with me though :)

Yeah, even my old 1976 z650 can run fine on unleaded as they were putting the hardened valve seats in for the yank bikes, so you should be able to run no problems on unleaded without any additives.

Holy Shit everyone agrees

You can feel the love in the room can't ya.........

I think Tank Foam would improve the performance of your bike though ;)

yoda speaks

dwell on the could haves..we must NOT
Focus on the solution we must

ok..you blokes
AFAIK...the first decent Kwaka to accept the ULP brew
was the late GpZ750 circa 1983/4 (not the aircool version)
(my early GeePeeZee and Turbo version needed healthy doses of LEAD..!)
the GeePeeX750 ('85 on) was an unleaded beast..no problem

that is the problem solution...we know

cheers

So are you saying my z650 is indecent?

Like I said, they were making them with hardened valve seats for the US market and delivering them around the world for years before unleaded was introduced in Australia. I'm sure Gos can give specific models and dates, but definitely before the 83/84 GPZ.
