Hey guys
All going to plan I'm donig a weekend trip from Brisbane over the long weekend. Any suggestions for a route would be great.. my only requirements:
* haven't done a big trip in a while, don't want anything too gruelling but still want to cover some miles and have a bit o' fun
* need to do this Oxley thingamy everyone talks about
* Coffs Harbour Sunday night, for an easy trip back Monday.
* ideally stay one night in Sydney

Oh and I'm leaving mid-afternoon on Thursday, plan to cover a few miles through GC Hinterland but be off the bike not long after dark... so maybe a suggestion of somewhere to stay near-ish to the border... I don't mind camping but a pub meal and shower'd be nice too.

Hey Shifty I would tell you where to go but you would have to take me with you
Mate the Oxley is a great stretch of road you cant go wrong with keeping it on the list, but make sure you have enough time do a few laps just
to make sure you didnt miss any of the arrr scenery

Thanks Tanya, will give that a look.... will grab a few maps in the next couple of days and see what I can see.
Rob, would give you a yell but I can't go on group rides, it seems to turn into a race.... can't help myself, so I just stay away from others before I lose life/limbs/license!

Actually I'm half considering a trip up North, I have relo's in Mackay I wouldn't mind visiting.
Had a look at the map though, and it looks like a dead-boring ride.
Thoughts?

You can't go wrong with the Oxley, and Thunderbolts from Walcha to Gloucester has a few nice bits too. If you want to head to Sydney you can go Walcha -> Gloucester -> Hexam -> Kurri Kurri -> Wollombi -> OPH -> Sydney - it's probably a 600 km day, anotuher 50 if you start from Gingers Creek. Remember, it's double demerits in NSW over the long weekend (midnight Wednesday to midnight Monday) and the coppers will be out in force.
Take plenty of photos and make us all jealous!

All taken on board. Will see what I come up with... and if I end up in Sid-a-nee and can steal some internets I might even make a post about an impromptu get-together with some of you skippy poofs in Sydney

Mate I am going to Adelaide over that weekend, north is as mentioned boring as bat shit. South is good, Lismore, Casino, Tenterfield, Uralla, down the oxley and so on.

Ok, rough idea of the plan:
Beaudesert
Boonah
Rathdowney
Kyogle
Casino
Tenterfield
Glen Innes
Grafton
Coffs Harbour
Ulong
Dorrigo
Armidale
Walcha
Port Macquarie
Kempsey
Urunga
Dorrigo
Grafton
Casino
Kyogle
GC Hinterland
Weather looks like it's going to be very patchy so depending on just how much rain there is it could turn into a very short-lived trip... or there could be some route adjustments on the fly.
Bike's all packed, ready to roll when the gong goes at 5pm
