ZX7-R or ZX9-R, That is the Question

Howdy,
I have done some searching regarding my topic but have found nothing.
My old bike was a 91 ZXR-750. I loved that bike, rode it daily and found it a comfortable bike to ride.
The problem I have is, with a relocation to the country and my job 70 odd kms away I need a bike again.
I am looking at either 1995-2000 models of the ZX7-R or the ZX9-R, as they are around the same price range.
Which would be better suited for fuel economy and ergonomics? I didn't mind my old 7, never found it to be uncomfortable even on long distant riding.
Would you even consider a ZX6 for the job? Just to chuck them into the debate aswell. Same vintage.
Thanks in Advance

i'd go the 9 instead. be more comfortable for a 70km commute twice daily than a 7 and you'll see 300km+ out of a tank easy if you dont keep it in 2nd the whole way. the zx6 has similar dimensions to the 9, it'd be just as good as the 9 for the commute. but you'll want to take advantage of the extra torque the 9 has to get past traffic in top gear without having to crack open the gas.

I'd say go the 9, but I'm a bit biased

If you do get a 9 I'd aim for a '98 or later (C series or later) as the earlier B's are a bit long in the tooth, really heavy and pretty ugly IMHO. The 6 would be another good option, but again I'd be looking at a G or J series ('98 or later) or even a A series 636 (2002). The 6 will be quite happy making the miles, you just need to rev it a bit more than the 9, but 6 riders will tell you that's half the fun.

Had a '99 ZX9 for a few years until it was pinched and it was an awesome bike, couldn't fault it. I have no dramas recommending one. I agree with the others in going for a '98 or later, much better bikes than previous models.

Mate. Both are great bikes and will do what you need. Shop around and keep an open mind to either bike. Pick the one that is inthe better condition.

the best compromise is the 9 I hear. Fat ugly chicks have personalities sort of thing
A lot of the older dudes ride them too so they must be OK.

I owned a zx6 and came back after a 5 year layoff to the 9, its a great bike, much more comfortable than the 6, holds a Ventura rack nicely, and hang on when you twist the throttle mate. Go the 9

dude.....
