I have seen the light...

I pulled left out of the local servo the front of a local cocky in an old Jap ute. He was only going 10-15km/h (from the adjoining 'T' junction to my right) and I wasn't starting from a standstill, so plenty of time (and I'm on the ZZR). However he took afront to this and decided to accelerate up my arse. Alas for him I saw him coming and the mighty ZZR was off.

Fark they can go, what a rush...

12,500 rpm in 2nd, and then the same in 3rd. And when I looked down in 500-odd metres was doing over the old imperial ton. Got to get a recording of that induction roar, and I bet the cocky is still wondering w.t.f. I went.

Now I'm hooked, bring on the Z750 8)

Awesome...

I amazes me that dickheads in cages think they can compete with a bike in a straight line drag... Sure there are exceptions to the rule (my mates HX sedan - 11.95 qtr mile) but generally those people aren't out to prove anything.

Mate mate mate the poor old girl has never been ridden like that, she normally has a fairly staid (although she would probably consider it boring) existence. Sports tourer, 40yo relative newbie shortarse chickenshit rider and all that...

It was borderline with the front wheel, it was just touching the road. I didn't think the mid-sized ZZR would do a 2nd gear rolling power-on wheelie, but if I'd been a bit more savage with the right hand and I reckon she would have been up (the back was squatting pretty hard).

Took me half an hour to get back on the ground from that, what a buzz.
The silver ZZR600 does nothing for me at all, boring colour...and I really want to ride naked

I may be on a Kwakka longer than expected. The ZZR is going to hang around longer than I was looking at originally as Ros wants to do a massage course in 2005...and I need to fund it :?

Not all bad news, as I get to ride the old girl for a bit longer (err, the bike, not Ros). I may get her resprayed though, she's a bit tatty and needs tarting up.

I remember when i was on a 250 and came up behind a couple of sportsbikes that i *KNEW* were gonna tear off into the sunset, so i gave them a half second and then gave it what for 9ok i had panniers and allll kindsa crap on my bike enroute to p.i. but the difference was phenominal.

I had gone up 4 gears and they were on their second gearchange and about 300m away from me , and going away hard!!

Now i scare the pants off myself doing that now and then, what you should try if you *REALLY* wanna get going is slip the clutch more with the engine in the middle of the torque curve when taking off, it's like someone boots you in the back and pushes your brain out the back of your forehead! :D

First time I wound it out, the ZZR600 gave me a huge rush (still does every time). Love the RAM Air induction noise. One time I redlined and thought I saw a shift-light come on in the middle of the instrument pannel.

Does anyone know if the ZZR600 has a rev-limiter, at what RPM and if there is a shift light?

i had a moment last weekend of pure passion on my bike....no mina i wasnt
trying to get my "tool" in the pipe...
i was cruising home with laine on her zzr beside me, down anzac hiway...hear
this god awful screech & look over to see this vl commy sideways & smoking
the rear...he had chirped a gear & was accelerating hard...
i pull up between him & another car (lane splitting) and his mrs is asleep
in the passenger seat, short skirt, quite hot..hes a young wog...
i yell "dude wots that thing running" to which he replies "turbo 6 "...this
thing sounded like an 8...it was WILD...so i says to 'im "seems to go ok"
and he quirps back "probably do u mate"...and i eloquently elaborate with
"probably"...
ne way he tear asses away from the lights sideways & i dordle along jus
behind him..then with an almighty tug on the loud handle & a flick of the
clutch i reel past at abt 100kph on one wheel, 2nd gear...he responds by
nailing the thing sideways to chase....lights go red, we pull up, his mrs is
awake & she loving it, laine pulls up beside me & shakes her head, the guy
grin & starts laughing....
then the bullshit stops as they say, he takes off sideways, i give him the
jump off the start, then i take off on 1 wheel past him..as im up on 1 he
goes for 2nd, gets it all sideways & my undies turn brown...i hit rev
limiter & she comes down with a thud, hes starting to pull away, so i nudge
2nd & dump it hard, FARK ME shes back up on the back wheel (ussually
requires sum clutch) and im putting the big ones in ......any ways i won the
fight, and the battle...
as he turns of in the city he rewards my antics with a blow of my..i mean
his horn & his gf waves out the window....
i think this guy knew he had no chance, but he gave it a good go, and
entertained me for abt 5 min....lol....

Cool story there Neka. Its fun n games with people like that and actually know about sportsbike power. Its the rice burners that get me how they think they have a chance  however there are a few exceptions to the rule.
Up here in brisbane there is a legendery black supra gettin round that is farkin quick.........i mean seriously quick guys.
I wasn't there this one particular night but some of my mates were racing this thing back up the hwy (was late....no traffic around) and mate was saying(gixxer thou) he was pulling up beside it 260-270-280 then it would pull away whilst blowin flames out the exhaust. They seen the car parked in the city later on and went up and talked to the guy and had a look under the bonnet and they reckon it had 2 of the biggest turbos on it you would ever see. 8)
