Hey everyone,
First of all this is my first post and thanks for whom ever thought of this site, pretty neat

I recently bought a 2002 zz-r250 (Ex250 -h14 on manual) with 3800Km on it.
It was only serviced once in 2005 (at 1000kms ) and was last ridden in 2005. It was occasionally turned on every 2 or 3 month.
Their seems no problems with the bike , I changed the oil and the fuel and everything seems to be fine. My question is, do i need to do anything else before riding??
Any tips are much appretiated

Cheers

Hi Paul,
Welcome to the site, and sorry if this appears rushed but I've been back at work two days after three weeks off and I'm knackered already

.
You'll probably get plenty of replies but a few things that come to mind at first glance are:
1. Tyres. They are likely to be the original tyres, is the rubber brittle/cracked/perished or just not as supple as it should be? If so, replace.
2. Fuel Tank. When you replaced the fuel did you look for and/or spot any rust in the fuel tank? If the tank was half-full (or half-empty if you're a pessimist) check above the fuel line.
3. Battery. Have you checked the cells in the battery and are any dry?
4. Air filter. Any oil left in the filter sponge?
5. Disks. Are the front and rear disks free of bad rust? What condition are the pads?
Enjoy, they are a great little bike.
Mick

What he said...
If the tyres are in good condition just check that the pressures are correct. Somewhere close to 36psi front and 42psi in the rear should be bang on.
Also check for critters living in the depths somewhere. I picked up a mates bike once to detail it and had a huntsman run out from under the tank up my leg which is always a hilarious experience...
Great little bike. Welcome to the site too.
Nick

Thanks a lot guys really appreciate the info
I have another question please, i noticed that the bike jumps a bit on every gear, even before starting to release the clutch handle, is this normal.
Do you think their's a problem with the bike ??
PS: Sorry for the late reply, Internet problems with Optus and Telstra

.....

Hi Paul if its doing this in every gear before releasing the lever it sounds like the clutch cable needs adjusting
could be as simple as that hopefully.

Hey Robracer,
i think u got it
I played a bit with the clutch adjuster and it feels a bit better.
Pretty sure after service(This weekend hopefully) the bike will run much better.
Cheers and thanks for your help!

Carbie clean and a full service, that's all what it needed

team Mofo have let me down a few times & therefore do not get my patronage anymore, something about customer service that needs attention is one factor
