Insurance for my new ride

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has good, bad or indifferent dealings with insurance companies. I am collecting my new ride
(06 zx12r) on the weekend and am looking to insure it before i go riding too far and having too much fun.
My last bike (98 VTR1000) was insured with Suncorp and although i didn't have any probs with them, I was interested in getting some feedback from other club members about other companies ie: Shannons etc.
I will be doing the ring around to most of them anyway.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Regards acuman.

if your under 25 your not an enthusiast...
if you ride more than 2 times a week, (ie sat and sunday) your not an enthusiast
but by all means give shannons a burl...
i went with western QBE, pretty competitive.

Go Shannons I say, never had a problem. Had modified cars with them for years and then the 10, even with a claim their was never an issue. The repaired didn't get paid until all was fixed and i was happy, so the repairer made sure i was happy first
had Western QBE when i was on my L's cause they were the cheapest for 3rd Property Damage only.

I got insurance with Western QBE on my 9 & it was at a good price.
When I made a claim through them for damage to my 250 they were quick with approving the repairs & ended up returning my excess a few months later.
All good with them so far for me.

Thanks heaps everyone,
I will have a scrap thru them and see who cuts the deal! I checked out the Ullysses site and I am too young for them at present

. Kinda nice, for now and the next 6 months.
Thanks again.

I reckon you should get a 6 month policy from Western QBE, then decide to either stick with them or move over to a Ulysees cover....or QBE may even offer discounts for Ulysees members.
BTW whenever i am asked if i am a member of any motorcycle group, i always say KSRC. and it usually gets a discount

Don't forget

Backed by Suncorp and were waaaaaay less than Shannons, QBE, ebike, etc.
You can customise the riders gear cover (QBE is $4k whether you like it or not) and fool around with excesses.
Or the old timer Ulysses might be the next best option.

Definitely try "Insure my Ride".. I found them to be the cheapest yet for my 07 ZX10R.. Also remember to mention that you travel less than 10,000 k's per year (that is if you do) and they take another big chunk off it. I am very happy and you can choose to cover all your ride gear as well, or none.. no pressure from them. I am a happy customer... Macca

QBE was the cheapest I could find.
My Dad had a lot of hassles on a claim with Shannons and based on that I have stayed away from them.

Thanks all for the feedback.
I have collected the bike now and am very keen for a descent ride, however the weather here in bris is not real rider-friendly and looks like it may stay this way for the next week.
Oh well it gives me plenty of time to organise the insurance.
I have been gathering some internet quotes and so far the winner is .....................insure my ride!! (at least until i am old enough to join the Ulysses)
I will get on the phone and check out a couple of others early in the week. I will keep you informed of the winner!
