Will a 98 zx9r rear wheel fit a 93 zx7
I'm looking at buyin a 93 zx7 but it has a buckled rear wheel was wondering what wheels are interchangeable? I'm pretty sure all B model zx9 wheels will fit but what about C model zx9s?
It's a speed thing if you have to ask, you wont understand

Dunno, but I've got got a B series zx9r wheel sitting in my garage - I'd happily swap you for a C series wheel?

Most wheel places (rebuilders/straighteners, not retail sales) will be able to re roll it for you for less than $100 if it's not too badly buckled.
C model rears will go in but not easily, the distance between the sprocket & disc mounting faces is the same but you'll need to turn up the appropriate spacers to centre up the wheel. The C disc is smaller diameter & you can't bolt the ZXR disc on to the C wheel as the C has 4 mounting holes & the ZXR 5. Go to your local bike shop & ask them if they'll let you look through their Metal Gear or Braking cattledog, they have all the info you need to source a disc that is the right dia. with the right mount holes.
From memory, the sprocket carrier bearings have the same O.D. but different I.D. Not sure about the wheel bearings (axle diameters) tho.
If you can't get your wheel straightened, they turn up on Ebay for around $200 - $250 occasionally, wreckers will want $300+

Re: Will a 98 zx9r rear wheel fit a 93 zx7
well we attempted to put a 95 model zx7 wheel on my 99 zx9 and it wouldn't fit, the wheel on the 9 has a longer centre to bridge a gap for the rear brake caliper. the ZX7 as it doesn't have the longer centre there is too much free play. The zx7 had a 190 rear also and wouldn't clear the swing arm properly. Obviously it wasn't lined up.
We had it all bolted in but it wouldn't properly or safely.
Chain doesn't sit straight either!!!

oh well i am only going off what my mate told me, it was definately a 190 so it must of been 96+ then, he bought it in parts as it was a write off.MadKaw wrote:The 95 zxr750 had a 180 rear, the 96+ zx7r had a 190 rear...Saki wrote:well we attempted to put a 95 model zx7 wheel on my 99 zx9 and it wouldn't fit, the wheel on the 9 has a longer centre to bridge a gap for the rear brake caliper. the ZX7 as it doesn't have the longer centre there is too much free play.
