Road Works on Heidelberg - Kinglake Road, St Andrews
- 14 January to 8 February 2008

Project background
A section of the Heidelberg-Kinglake Road, north of St Andrews, needs to be repaired. This section is on a sharp bend, in the Kinglake National Park and approximately 1.8km south of the Murrindindi Shire boundary.

These essential road repairs are scheduled to be carried out on the Heidelberg-Kinglake Road from Monday 14 January 2008 to Friday 8 February 2008.

Specifically, works will include:
Installation of a retaining wall along a 20m section of road
Provision of a 2m wide shoulder on the inside of the bend.

Widening the road and installing a retaining wall will ensure that the road is safer for all vehicles, including larger ones such as buses, which regularly use it.

For the duration of the works, Heidelberg-Kinglake Road will be reduced to one lane of traffic through the work site, controlled by temporary traffic signals. Delays of about five minutes can be expected.

Road closures
The works will also necessitate the closure of Heidelberg-Kinglake Road on several days in the first two weeks from 9am. The road closures will be dictated by the progress of works and the weather. The closures will be well signed in advance.

During this time, motorists will need to seek alternative routes via either the Melba Highway or Whittlesea-Kinglake Road. Motorists are urged to plan their trip to include the extra travel time caused by the closure, estimated to be about 45 minutes.

These essential road works are being carried out at this time of year to minimise disruption to traffic.

VicRoads thanks you for your co-operation regarding this temporary closure and we apologise for any inconvenience caused
