New Bike advice (Z750 -Z1000 owners)

Hey all,

Went and to a bike shop to test ride an 07 Z750 today - but the demonstrator was sold :( boooo

so i test rode an 06 Z1000 instead :)

++ great handling, sweet ride, smooth as, fun as hell.
-- it really didn't have the power i was expecting

So, i'm find myself in a quandry, i plan on test riding the Z750 this weekend, and i'm hoping i'm not disapointed with the power.
Has anyone test ridden both 750 and 1000? is the power/feel/smoothness very different?
Thoughts?

after doing a little more research and looking round for pricing, hopefully, i'll be posting up pics of my big smile and new Kawasaki Zed by the end of the month!

Thanks for the imput. :D :D :D :D :D

Awesome BikerBoy,

One more for the dark side. :) (naked or street fighter. hahahahah).

I have not ridden the thou as i felt it may be hard to go to 750 afterwoods. On either bike you will have wind resistance trouble over about 170 (i have heard) so to me it wasn't of any benefit to get the thou. My personal opinion of any litre bike compared to a 750 is that you get all the power you need for the street on a 750 (bit more actually) and you spend less on insurance and fuel with the added bonus of a little less weight. It is a few grand difference in price (not much really) so it is going to be all up to you.

I have hardly ever got my bike over about 8grand and it will do well over the speed limit in second gear so the power thing for me is not all that important, in the end it will only come down to your preference and your economy..........either way, it will be a lot of fun. Wait for the 750 test and then decide for yourself, it sounds like you are as excited as i was when i tested mine out, just make the final decision when you are done (it took me two days after i tested the 750 out to decide on it, not long really).

Go to youtube and type in 2007 z750 and watch how these things are ridden, you will notice the capabilities aren't that different. PM me and Robracer when you get it and we will get out for a ride, i have been promising to meet up with him for a while, but never got to it. Good luck with the decision

After buying my 06 Z750, I had a ride on a mates 03 Z1000. There wasn't a huge amount more power, but it's definitely noticable, especially in the midrange.

The springers on the thou seemed to handle a bit better, but having said that, mine hadn't been touched since it was in the crate from Japan..

Where did you test ride? We have a Z750 and a Z1000 demo here now so if you want to book in, you can ride them back to back. This will help you to decide which one is right for you. Let me know what you think

If it's not a budget issue, (we all have to sometimes sacrfice things like the bigger bike in order to accomodate the other neccesities in life....a new house, the wife's new car, another pair of shoes, so on and so forth) I would buy the thousand. It just saves you thinking you should have bought the thousand every time you hop on the 7fiddie! 8)

the 7 will get you into less trouble  its slightly lighter therefore a little bit more nimble but at the end of the day if you can take up the Flywheels challenge & do a back to back ride you will be able to make the assesment :D no doubt 8).

Strika does have a point, if I had a choice it would be the thou for the sake of a few extra HP & slightly better componentry,But I still love my 7 it does everything I need from a commuter ;) Keep us posted!

havent ridden a 750...

difference between 06 and 07 z1000 was noticeable i thought... ..

07 seemed a bit smoother

06 was grumpy and lumpy... then again..aftermarket cans....

power wise...didnt notice much between em...

the fact my susp has been set up for me, and the demo hadnt, i found the 07 to handle crappy after riding mine...

Good to hear the comments, food for thought.

Primarily i guess it is a budget issue, 16k for the litre, as oposed to 11.5k for the fiddy - its just seems like a lot more cash - but at the same
time your right, i don't want to feel like i should have gone the extra little bit for the litre.

there was a new z1000 that i looked at but it was the 2006 - so maybe is worth considering that for only a couple of grand more.

what would you pay for an 06 z1000 new? 14k ?

i'm sad to put the ol zx6r on bikesale.com, it was good to me,,,

Gah! decisions - I'll definitely be up for a ride day once i've bought it.

thanks

16k!!! for a z1000 ?

Im sure you can do a lot better than that, especially at this time of the year.

I have a Z750 and my husband has a Z1000. The Z1000 has a much better ride than the Z750, suspension wise, and it is much more adjustable than the 750. Also, if you feel that the power is missing from the 1000, you will definately notice it missing from the 750.

The 750 is great as a commuter bike with the occasional weekend spat, but if you will primarily be riding for fun, the Z1000 is your better option.

I have an 04 Z1000 with intake, exhaust, PC3 & it hammers along!
The 1000 will abviously have a little more HP but also a tonne more USEABLE torque (better mono's! :P ). My Zed beats most litre bikes to 1/2 track at the strip as the torque is unreal!
You won't have to rev it as high to get it going & can pull from low RPM's with much better acceleration.
The Z1000's do get fair HP/ Torque increases from exhaust/ re-map upgrades, if you want to consider modifying it...

Good luck with whatever you buy.
You can't go wrong with either!

Daz. ;)

i think i paid $17k on road..but when u consider he gave me $7k for mine.... it was worth maybe $4k... so i prob paid abt $13-14k or sumthin... on road...

i think u could pick up an 06 run out.. its not a bad bike.. the main upgrades here are (feel free to add any i miss)

*petal rotors
*radial brakes
*slightly diff front forks
*different bodywork
*different rearsets

but keep in mind..there are already quite a bit of aftermarket gear for the 03-06 model..the 07 is just having stuff done now...
