won an erion full exhaust system off ebay for $260 AUD (still awaiting postage)
i know ill need an air filter. and power commanders are quite cheap.
but are the power commanders neccesary. and if so how much work should be done?
can i get a generic map off the net?
will it be detrimental to the engine to run a filter and full system but no special mapping?
im not looking to be superbike champion of the road im just bored with my job and ebay is a nice break.

try the full system first without the PC. If you do get any bad flat spots, then a PCIII will fix this with the right mapping. You should be able to do a search on any Blade owners forum for a suitable map. Unless your standard fueling is way out, you won't hurt the engine by bunging on a better-breathing exhaust system.
I helped PC fit a full race-only Arrow system to his 2003 Z1000 recently - and that bike hauls arse without any PCIII at all. It has no flat-spots in the fueling anywhere......and this is a full tilt track-only system ! works just fine without a PCIII. Not all bikes will respond in the same way of course, but until you know you actually *need* a PCIII, I suggest you can fit up your new exhaust and ride it first to see how the bike works, before laying out more bucks on a PC. Aftermarket air-filters (BMC, K&N etc) don't neccessarily breathe any better than your stock filter - but they are washable and reusable, that is the main advantage. If you are still running a stock filter, leave it in there. It won't restrict the breathing ability of the new exhaust much if at all.

the haynes manual tells me to replace the seals when i change it out
use sealant and blah blah
what do i need to do when changing the headers over?
any lubes? sealants?
im not too keen on taking the radiator off as the haynes manual recommends.
it looks like i can loosen the top and disconnect the bottom bolts and kind of let it swing in a controlled manner
the radiator hoses have enough slack in them.
any other tips for changing zorsts over?

What year model is the Blade?
When i put new headers on my old Blade (93 model) i had to put new copper crush gaskets between the headers and the block. These are a single use item. I tried to use the old one but got a heap of leaks. Be care to have them in place and lined up as if they are not in place correctly they will get crushed and not seal correctly

had two calls to my local honda dealer today
first call what size are the gaskets? we only have a serial number no size we can order them in for you
got called away had to do some work related things
second call same place different guy basically said he can get them for an 04 model or nothing else. too hard to look up hes not even gonna try
rang kwaka dealer and got 15 minutes of alternate ways to do it. made some phonecalls on my behalf and got back to me where i can order them from apart from F*ra*ers in newcastle.
funny a kwaka dealer knows more about hondas than a honda dealer

seriously?? why do u need to call 3 different dealers to arrange a $20 part?? ur not gunna save that much on shopping around...
id be the same if i were the dealer- i wouldnt give u the details (spend 20min finding the part number on microfische and the like just so u can go buy it sumwhere else?? )...
ppl think that retailers are an information service... we dont make money by giving out info...
shit my local dealer had em in days....
