Police seek hit-and-run driver
The Age November 21, 2007 - 3:14PM

A motorcyclist is seriously hurt after slamming into the back of a van which had cut him off on a freeway north of Melbourne today.

The van failed to stop after the incident today on the Calder Freeway, just past the Melton on-ramp about 8.30am (AEDT), police said. Police want to speak to the driver of the red or maroon-coloured Mitsubishi van, possibly a 1980s model, with yellow or gold sign writing on the side.

Police said the motorcyclist was travelling east along the freeway when the van cut the bike off, causing it to brake suddenly.

The rider hit the back of the van and fell off, sustaining a broken arm and possible leg and neck injuries, but the van driver did not stop and continued east along the freeway.

The bike rider was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.

Police want to speak to the driver of the red or maroon-coloured Mitsubishi van, possibly a 1980s model, with yellow or gold sign writing on the side. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

And he's in deep shit when he gets caught as I have little doubt he will... coppers are rarely happy with ppl leaving the scene of an accident at any time, when someones injured (even if it's a motorcyclist) they are far less happy I suggest.
