Road changes around Sydney??? updates please...

Post by Neka79 »

basicly..in 2 weeks im flying home for a few days, got a wedding to attend in wollongong..so i figured id pop in and see me mum b4 i go there...
now i still havent got a GPS (figure i dont really need one- i use to live there and should be able to work shit out)...

so normally id fly in, rent a car and drive up to the nth coast on the number 7 road....

then id cruise down princess hiway to wollongong...

as i will be short for time, im wondering if there have been any major changes to the roads that are gunna confuse the crap outta me?? or is it still pretty much the same??

if its turned to shit ill go buy a GPS..but id prefer not to....

G'day Neka - I think most of the major rental firms supply a Sydney & surrounding districts map or have them for sale.
I've spent over 40 years of my life riding bikes .... the rest of it, I wasted ..

You've now got the Lane Cove Tunnel linking the Gore Hill and the M2, The M7 from Prestons (M5) to the M2 crossing the M4 at Eastern Creek. Was the M5 East done before you left?. The changes have probably made it easier though.

if you're not going to be heading towards lane cove, or the north/north-west then it shouldn't affect you too much as that's where those major roads are located. The only thing is though, the idiots still haven't gotten any better at driving.

Try Google maps or travelmate.com.

Both have facilities for directions for your A to B trip and you can print out a map that includes directions.

yea thats a top idea....

i had a bit of a look see , and seemed useful... also ill see if the hire car has street directory... but all in all surely it should be sign posted or sumthing?

might still end up with a GPS...

as for a ride with me..last time i did it was wild...maybe i should organise a trip back again..im abt due...

it works :),i did that when we did our driving in the US, worked out we did about 1100 miles of driving using the GPS as a primary guide and having the printouts for whenever the p.o.s. decided to send us along freeways instead of the scenic routes.
