Bells Line speed limit changes..

From the MCC of NSW...

Currently I'm up and down the BLoR once a week to a job at Wallerang PS.

Yesterday there were a couple of mobile electronic sign units in place
advising of speed limit changes. There were also a number of road crews
painting out the speed limit notices on the road surface.

Yep, you guessed it. The 90 & 100km/h speed limits have all been
reduced to 70 & 80km/h between Bellbird Hill and the weigh station at
Bell!

Curiously many of the 'advisory speed' notices on curves are still in
place. So we now have a road with either a 70 or 80km/h limit but
advisory speeds around curves of of 85km/h!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

100km/h in the 100 zones feels like your crawling. Now the bloody weekend Hyundai drivers will be doing 60 up there.

I presume they'll police the shit out of it too

Might as well just go and buy a fuggin' cruiser :x :x

Worries me what's next... not the P,P,Pu..... I can't even type it.

I presume the thinking (for want of a better term) is that the GW is the popular route to Lithgow so Bells is now a bloody tourist route. Once again clearly noone lives in North Western Sydney.

Obviously the speed limit on the Bells is a more important issue than a fucked Hospital system.

Stupid Bastards.

I just had a look at it on whereis, and FARK, thats the whole furking road!!!

What a bunch of cobblers, doesn't the fact that it is a major thoroughfare to bathurst mean anything. Sure it sucks that the old road is 60 in places, but that isn't as much of an issue as it's not a core arterial road to get through there. This road however *IS* an arterial road for getting to or from Bathurst. Sure you could go via Wentworth Falls, but if your heading from North Richmond its a helluva detour to get there quicker.

If a speed camera goes out there i'd be tempted to "borrow" a few baldies from tempe tyres and go see about a closer inspection of them. Not that i woudl do it, but i'd be fugging tempted.

As its a major road as well the chances are its looked after my the RTA not by local council, so they probably had very little say in it, or if they did, they'd have to hassle the RTA to get the limit changes put in place.

f*in dogs.

Bathurst Council are trying to get BLoR changed to a major high way to bring Bathurst closer to Sydney. It has been in all their local papers and is a big political push for one of the parties.
I can't understand the reasoning for the reduction. Although a new speed camera will add nicely to increasing revenue.

In Brissy, they dropped the speed limit on the Ipswich Motorway from 100 to 90 cause it was getting too busy... Yep - too many cars on that road so lets slow them down and keep them there longer...

Speed doesn't kill people... idiots kill people!

F&^kers...

the speed camera on kurrajong hts was installed to help with the "black spot" that is bells line of road.

funny how they put it where the only accidents are trucks losing their brakes at 5km/hr

I was up there years ago, there was a kitchen tidy bag over it and a guy doing laps just to see the bag light up at night :)

Maybe its time for a spot of "civil disobedience" - and I'll leave that to your imagination.
I'm imagining a conga line of bikes riding at 5km BELOW the speed limit at distances between them that extend the line for several kilometres - who's up for it?
P.S. Xmas hols are coming up!

Adding to previous post - tell your mates/other riders! Be aware - there are probably some lurkers viewing this forum so we shouldn't be talking how & when in the open!

Dunno what you NSWelshman are worried about???? You guys get 350 signs before each speed camera telling you that there is a speed camera!!!!! In vic no signs to tell you to slow down or we'll take a piccie....and more often than not, unless you know where they are, the first you know of it is a letter in the mail!!!!
