Apart from Hi-Vis vests !!!

There seems to be an increase in the amount of 'texting' language used around here......

eg ".....u, ur freinds and ur family!! it is ur decision... but at least think abt it b4 u jump str8 in!!

but this is a forum , not a mobile phone conversation between you and a mate? I *fucking* hate text message-type spelling on forums, its just bloody lazy when you have this huge keyboard right in front of you for keying in the correct spelling / language / grammar etc.....on a phone heh no worries, its hard enough to text and keep in the correct lane at the same time .....

Just my spleen-vent for the day. Normal transmission may now resume....

If you take the ubiquitous *Ur* as an example. Well, check the position of the keys. In order to type *Ur* correctly as *Your*, the bloody Y key is RIGHT NEXT to the U key, and the bloody O key is only 2 KEYS AWAY from the U key !!!!!!


It ain't that hard is it ??? Is it just because I have a pathological hatred of mobile phones ? Or because I can type 80 words per minute ??????

It's an age thing - Qwerty keyboards were around wayyyyyyy before the computer so you can deal. Mobile phones are a new fangled device that out strips programing the DVD recorder in complexity.

You know you're really old when you type a text message with your index finger instead of your thumb!

I don't think it's deliberate....they just don't teach kids to spell anymore, apparently it's more important to write things phonetically (how they sound) than to actually learn how to spell. The English language is almost dead.....two more generations i think.

Won't happen. The language is being kept alive by people from Poland, Slovenia and Lithuania. They tend to make more of an effort.

Yeah, the eastern block countries always promote a great grasp of the English language! Are you serious??? Ever listened to an eastern European, who is new to Australia speak english?? Here is how they ask nicely for something....... "you give me this fuck you"....!! And that's them being polite!! Go visit Preston in Melbourne for a few hours and listen to the Serbs, Croats and Bosnians crucify the English Language in a few sentances, far more than this forum ever will!!!

i'm afraid i have to agree, sms speak shits me off on forums, its lazy ignorance that is the cause of sms speak on forums. and people, nay, KIDS whom are the worst offenders. I've lost count of how many times i've hassled people about sms speak.
