If I found a bike I really liked but hated the colour, is it worth getting a new paint job ? or should I just HTFU and stop being a girl

Depends. If it's a mostly stock road bike and you think you'll want to sell it at some time in the future, leave it stock. Custom paint usually makes buyers think you're hiding crash damage, makes a bike harder to sell and drops the price you can ask. If you'll be keeping it forever, then by all means, paint it any way you like. And if it's a complete rat bike and nothing is going to make it look worse, then it's probably okay to paint it then too.

Oooh Jenny - what bike is it? And what colour? How truly hideous is it!
I guess at the end of the day if you are planning on keeping it for a while, or have lots of $$ to throw around, why not get it painted? It might not make the most economical sense... but it would be fun!

just grow to love it....
or customise with a few touches....
a new paint job will either
a.cost like $1000
b. look shit if not done well
and as outlined...only crashed bikes are repainted, and they dont hold as good value...
