Use Alto Kawasaki at your own peril

"Dear Andrew,

With regards to your claim that the delamination of the paint on your left side centre fairing panel should be covered under the Kawasaki Owner's Express Warranty Policy.

Your claim that the paint on the left hand side panel of your fairing has delaminated has now been thoroughly investigated by Kawasaki Motors Pty. Ltd. Technical Service Department. After a lengthy discussion with the service manager from Alto Kawasaki no manufacturing defect has been deemed to exist that would cause the issue you are claiming. The problem you have experienced may have been caused by an outside influence or substance. Please refer to the terms & conditions described on page 4 of your Kawasaki Owner's Express Warranty Handbook.

This is the final opinion of Kawasaki Motors Pty. Ltd & all further enquiries should be directed to your preferred Kawasaki Motorcycle Dealer. To find the location of your nearest authorised Kawasaki motorcycle dealer please visit the Kawasaki Motors public website at http://www.kawasaki.com.au & search for your nearest dealer by clicking on dealers, selecting a product type & entering your postcode. You then click on the go button & it will advise you of all the local dealers & their address’s & contact details closest to your location. I hope this information is of help to you.

Kind Regards,

Jeremy Fuller

fakr thats a bit steep ey, wats the point in having a warranty if they don't let u redeem anything on it! now having that said, why has the paint faded ? just crappy paint job ? surely the paint from factory should be ableto withstand the elements for more than 2 years!!!

There is, but it's only bollocks about "if I am not the intended addressee".
Since I am the intended addressee, I'll let everyone know how farked-up Kawasaki are when it comes
time to honour warranties.

Like I've said before, Kawasaki Aus. rely on the local dealer with warranty claims. If the local dealers are bastards then you won't have much luck with a warranty claim. If the local dealers look after you, then they go along with it and honour claims. I'm just glad my local dealer looks after me.

nope they are sh!t with cars as well. at least toyota are anyway.
a few years back bought a brand new hilux 4x4 and even paid extra for their "paint protection".

after about 12 months a bird crapped on the bonnet and i didnt wipe it off for 24 hours (the novelty of a new car had worn off i guess). When i cleaned off the sh!t it took the paint off it as well.
called toyota and they gave me a similar response to the above. i was as you can imagine very p!ssed off. the paint on my 20 year old commodore i owned before that was much better quality and i only paid 3 grand for it.

its hard to believe you spend so much money on something and it turns out the quality is so bad. anyway i sold it not long after and have since vowed to never buy a brand new car again.

since then i dont trust warranties at all - all they are is a way of trying to force you to let them service your vehicle at ridiculous cost.

its sux that they are shafting you but to be honest i am not surprised.

Kawasaki Warranty is shite. It really is only after you threaten them with something severe that you get a response.

I would:-

Ring Kawasaki Technical Services and talk the problem through with them first. You may just get a guy who will deal with it on the spot. You don't know what the dealer has told them and in In my experience the dealer didn't try real hard. I did this with my cracked arse and it worked ie they replaced it not under warranty bur as a "good faith" measure.

If that fails tel them you have no option but to go to the department of fair trading. You'll get an arbitration hearing that won't cost you a cent but it will drag the Technical Services guy into the Dept's office in Parramatta for about a couple of hours. They likely won't want to do this. If they don't show, you win. Hopefully this will let them know that you know what you are doing and you're willing to do it.

Good Luck. If you need help with the Dept of Fair Trading process give us a yell. I did it with my builder and the process was pretty easy.

Some dealers are spineless and will not tell a customer that their claim does not qualify for warranty. The dealer will then blame the distributor for not supporting the customer. Thsi does not happen all the time but it does happen.
Speak to Kawasaki direct and if you don't get any satisfaction then take leagal action.
Remember, half the people you know are below average.

Yep I had a similar experience to Glen. Took it to the dealer who said Kawasaki rejected it.
I rang Kawasaki explained the problem, obviously better than the dealer could care to do, and they approved it..

Already in the process of doing that. Kawasaki don't seem too concerned though

Dear Andrew,
Thank you for your further communication. Kawasaki is more than happy to discuss this matter with any consumer protection organisation, however it is our experience that such organisations will request your initial communication to be through the dealer concerned. Once we are subsequently contacted by your dealer, we will be happy to provide any further assistance required, to that dealer.
Please contact your dealer for any further information on this matter.

Kind Regards,

Jeremy,

I will not be going full circle & speaking to Alto Kawasaki for a 3rd time.
As this is a warranty issue, can you please supply the contact details of
the person within Kawasaki Australia that can be contacted by Dept of Fair Trading.
All this for a part that would have cost no more than $300 to repair.
Very disappointing considering this is my 3rd Kawasaki & last.
