Just heard the news off chanel 9

This gist of it was that a a rider was coming over a crest on a highway near richmond, and over the crest an elderly person in a stationwagon was doing a u-turn in the middle of the highway coming out of a driveway. The rider came over the crest and braked trying to avoid the car but didnt wipe off enough speed and hit the car. His bike bounced off the car and ended up on the side of the road. The other riders that were with him (they were on their way to the supers) tryed to resusitate him, but he couldn't be revived and the rider died on the scene.

The bike was a Honda CBR of some sort, i couldn't identify it clearly but it was a very dark blue/ grey/ black , with a single rectangle headlight, looked quite modern, possibly a 954? Anybody know who this is?

Condolences to the friends/family of the rider

Its appeared in the local paper today:

http://www.news.com.au/mercury/story/0, ... 62,00.html

'' A MOTORCYCLIST was killed when his bike collided with a car on Fingerpost Rd, near Richmond, yesterday.

The crash occurred on a straight section of road just after 11am, about 50m east of White Kangaroo Rd.
The Honda motorcycle was travelling in a westerly direction when it collided with a Peugeot sedan, which was manoeuvring near a driveway.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 39-year-old Midway Point man, died at the accident scene.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 65-year-old man from Carlton, was not injured. The two passengers in his car were also unharmed.

The road was closed for about three hours.

Tasmania Police is calling for details from any witnesses who may have seen the crash or who saw the vehicles travelling on Fingerpost Rd prior to the incident.

Names of those involved have not been released.

The death brings Tasmania's road toll to 29, compared with 21 at this time last year.''

There are lots of reasons I don't go riding out Richmond way. This is another one.
He made a hell of a mess of that car too.
