i kno most of u (or a lot) have foxtel, but im curious if any of u believe writting to the TV stations actually achieves anything??
Reason im asking, is cos of the shit programming they have, especially channel ten tonight...
Now im not a huge bir brother fan, i watch it occasionally if nothing else on, but it bores me.. tonight on 10

6.30-8.30 Big Bro
8.30-9.40 Rove
9.40-11.40 Big Bro
11.40 Moto GP

now that 4 hrs of bloody big brother..how fucking boring..bad enuf they put shows like Moto GP on at 11.40, but after not 1, not 2 but 4 hrs of big brother...

to add insult to injury, the winton round of the V8 super taxi's are on at 10.30 on channel 7 (cos of the footy) ... motor sport fans arent getting what we deserve...

Either get Foxtel, or get over it.

Take the V8 coverage for this weekend. Seven showed a full day of it yesterday, yet today they replace the last two races with a bunch of pooftas chasing after a football. They can't even tackle properly!!!!

So, no V8's. Why? Because the football pulls more viewers than the V8's. More viewers means a larger advertising audience.

Same with Big Brother and GP's. There's millions of teenage girls who watch that crap, yet only a handful of people in comparison who watch the bike racing.

catering for the lowest common denominator.

big bro is super cheap for them to make cause they earn shitloads from sms polls and advertising etc and its popular with the young demographic.
its a shame cause if they put a similar amount of advertising behind some of the good shows they occasionaly (rarely) bring out they would probably go alright.

Foxtel is shit too. i only watch the bike racing, extreme sports channel, discovery and national geographic channel - the rest are usually shit.

i think its worth writing the letter.
the more people that say what they think then the more likely it is for things to change. realistically though nothing will change

Channel 7's coverage of the V8's must be due to the fact you live in SA. Was on 12-3 today up here.
Don't know if a letter will do anything, but could be worth a try

I heard that TV stations take letters seriously. It won't change the programming, but apparently it works something like this:

1 phone call to a station is representative of 500* viewers

1 letter to a station is representative of 1000* viewers

Basically, the idea is that if you are so pissed off with the ads/programming/whatever, that you can be bothered making a phone call, it *represents* the views of a lot of people. Writing a letter takes a lot longer, shows that you are willing to spend time to make your views known (ie more work than a phone call), therefore it represents a proportionally larger audience.......

*Aussie Ninja will be able to clear up the actual numbers represented (if at all) - he is in this game.

Happy to write to to em if it would make a difference, what with an Aussie doing so well and all. But remember though that even when Doohan was a national Hero it didn't make fuck all difference back then.
