hi all,

i am looking to upgrade from my zzr600, i am now thinking of a z750.

Are they any good for long trips and touring? are they economical? is there any other general comments about them....i don't think i want to get the thou for commuting but the 750 might be a good buy.....at least servicing will be easier....what are your thoughts?

Z1000 is still a very ridable bike around town...

The Z750 is a great commuter bike (not that I actually commute on mine very often)

It's quite economical, I get 250-270kms per tank from mine, the riding position is comfortable (more upright, easier on the wrists and back), & it is easy to handle in heavy traffic. I have taken the soft option (I keep telling myself to HTFU, but I haven't got there yet) and put a lambswool cover on the seat to add some comfort to the hard seat.

I have also done long trips on it - up to Tannum Sands (near Gladstone), south to Port Macquarie, etc, and it was just as comfy (or uncomfy at the end of the ride, depending on your POV) as for a normal 300km day ride.

I'm considering a Z750 too, but someone said 'why not spend another $2k and get a Z1000?'

I'm confused...

i thought about the thou, but i think i won't use it on the road. I think my 600 is very capable but i think i can better economy and a nicer sound out of a fuel injected 750. I may have done 230 on my ZZR600 (in a controlled environment of course) and that was a 600, i want to corner, have some useable power and save some tyres and fuel money. I wont get caught in the "i need a thou" syndrome (although my current bike of choice is a triumph sprint) i just need to be sensible about it....besides....all i read and hear lately is ....get the 600 or 750....you will waste a thou on the road.....160 in first means you will never need to change gears.

Just go the Z1000, 2k extra for the power that makes riding more fun!
Go tto be more comfy than a 10 for comuting!

If I were buying a Z1000 it would be for the better (?) suspension, not the extra power...not that I thought there was terribly much wrong with the 750. Besides the seat.

the thou gets abt 200km per tank (if that matters) so the milage aint as good..then again my motor is still a bit tight...

around town its great fun, thru the twisteis, its great fun..long trips...well being use to a cbr i found a lot more weight thru my bum, and less on my wrsists... so my bum/inner thighs were sore as buggery... might have to look at a different seat, or harden the f*** up...

RG - the 750 is heaps for your needs... the 1000 will be harder on fuel, tyres, license, insurance and probably heavier too.
