hi Mick,
went to tassie last year and yes they do use those handle bar tie downs(slip over the grip type) after the useless riders shed ornaments fell on top of each other and the spirit had a huge payout they brought the jiggers(tiedowns).

Bring a rag so those dirty straps won't touch the bodywork, seats etc.

I didn't and had to 'sacrifice' my gloves. No biggie.

They also put rubber pads under the front wheel so it gets a bit of grip on the painted steel deck, and those decks can be like riding on ice  a mate on his R1 had a front wheel slide for about 10m, he was lucky he kept it straight, I saw what happened and was idling along at about 5km/h to avoid the same thing

Yep take a couple of rags and place them between the straps and the fairing, pays to stay there while they are doing it :D ,have fun you lucky bugger, just remember not all corners are speed marked and there a few that might catch you out :D

They use to just strap over the seat but as said now use handlebar tiedowns.

Best riding in Oz you'll have a ball !!
